Once on a visit to San Francisco, my wife Cathe and I went to see Alcatraz, also known as The Rock. On our tour, we were able to view the various cells where famous criminals like Al Capone were kept. At one point, we also were able to walk into the tiny cells. It was such a horrible place to be. They said that no one ever escaped alive from that island prison. It was truly a place of isolation.

Not only does the Bible compare hell to a garbage dump, but it also compares it to a prison. One of the clearest pictures Jesus gave of hell was when he described it as a prison. He told a parable about the king's servant who was sent to jail for cruel and unforgiving behavior. Then He added this warning: "So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses" (Matthew 18:33). Jesus was saying that going to hell was like being cast into prison.

I receive many letters from prisoners who listen to our radio broadcast, A New Beginning, and from many who have come to Christ listening to it. Every one of them writes about his or her hope of getting out soon and having a changed life. The hope of getting out is the only thing that keeps them going.

But for those who have been condemned to hell, they won't get out. Once they are in, they are in for good. Once they are there, there are no other chances.

For one, it is not my word, it is God's word and if you read the comment on my other thread I said, do not take this as a personal attack. If you dont believe this thread about hell, well then that is fine, you have that right. I do not wish to engage in sharing ideas but I wish to share God's truth. If you dont believe this to be Gods truth that is fine by me, again you have that right. Leave your thoughts but leave me out of them. If you dont agree with what I have written give your thought on the subject but dont address it to me personally, dont drop my name on your comment. Im not here to fight. If you wish to address me send me a PM. Good day :-)

Because this is something I truly believe in. People talk about hell as just a place of fire and brimstone, without understanding what that means. its more then that, it is being separated from God forever which is truly hell! I just want to get this message across for those who will hear. Can you imagine being separated forever from your creator? Its horrible, and the closer you get to God the more horrible that reality becomes. It dosent have to be that way. Jesus paid a HUGE price for us, so that we dont have to go to hell, but he did give us a choice. So choose wisley :-)

anyway... in addition to what I said in the other topic, it looks like you are taking what pope john paul said as your belief... but he said there was no literal place of pain and torment, but rather a state of mind for who suffers the 'pain of the deprivation of God'.

Think about this: what are you trying to accomplish? Start a discussion? Make people see the light? If the latter, know that people will never start believing by just reading a post about hell being an awful place.

The main point is that without Jesus we are hopeless, we are on our way to hell unless we repent and turn to Jesus for forgivness of our sins. Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven. Heaven is real, Hell is real, Jesus is real.

who cares what the pope says, it only matters what God says. God is the creator, the pope is the created.

I was just trying to determine what part of christianity you are apart of... I agree with you though, I think the very idea of a pope would be seen by jesus as hypocrisy.

...and since you seem adamant that your idea of hell is the correct interpretation, would you care to give me some reasoning? im not trying to be a dick here, im just curious ;)
