there are too many things about me that are obvious (my race and faith namely) to ever consider not defending myself and others.
its just what I have always done.
I haven't ever considered defending people from prejudice an optional choice.
If you have character and are an honorable person, you stand up for anyone that is being victimized.
YES!
I stand up against all types of stereotypes and bashing of any group!
(Except maybe Right-Wing Republicans.
)
When I'm in the company of acquaintences
(my friends and family know better) I just get a disgusted and look and start shaking my head NO. When I get asked "Why do you have that look, and why are you shaking your head no?"
(For some reason they always ask me.)
I tell them; "I don't feel comfortable listening to y'all bash Gays and Lesbians, anymore than I would feel comfortable listening to y'all bash blacks, or hispanics or any other group. And the real kicker is unlike those other groups, who here knows who they're offending? You could be bashing someone here, or a member of someone's family. Sounds pretty ignorant, stupid, and bigoted to me."
Sometimes they'll ask me if I'm gay, and I'll ask, "How bad do you want to know?"

For the smart-asses who insist I ask, "Are you looking for a date? Cause if you are, I don't date narrow minded bigots."
I could just walk away, but when they do shit like that they really don't know who they're hurting. I've myself experienced, and watched enough friends suffer because of some ignorant, stupid, bigoted comment that came out of the mouths of people that they love.
It has to stop somewhere, so it may as well be with me.
