Age Of Consent

Honestly, worldwide that is, I think it should be either 16 or 17.
 
If it has to be legal at all, 25 should be the very minimum age of consent for gay sex.

It is a well known fact that everybody aged 16 - 18 who think they are gay are only going through a phase and do not know their own minds.

These are easy prey for the bad gays who target these young people.

A good talking to about what is right and wrong is what these kids need, not a buggering.
 
It should definitely be the same for all - gay, lesbian and straight.

I think it should be 18, as I feel 16 is a bit too young.

I also think there should be rules about the age differences between the couple when one is below a certain age, to prevent much older people exploiting just-legal youngsters.
 
It should be the same for gay and str8. I like 18 myself but others think 16, it's ok with me.
 
Adding my two cents into the fray ... The age of consent should be unified worldwide and in mu estimation should be 15 for Girls and boys, Gay, Starught or Bi, as long as the youth is a willing participant, if not then it could and should be considered rape. Currently the age of consent vary from country to country, state to sate, if they adopt a unified age of consent the accusation of rape would nearly disappear.

We have school teachers (Females) having sex with boys as young as 14 and having their babies, the young man in Georgia is 15 years old, he married the woman he got pregnant and they still are trying to put her in jail. Some kids are mature for their age and some adult still act like kids when they are 50, so who's to say what age is best, 15 years old is about the time when young boys become sexually active anyway, so why not make it legal as long they they are willing.

Thats's my two cents ...

That's about my stance. I think people should not be allowed to have sex, period, until 15 in our culture. An age difference rule of no more than 2 years until 18, then, since you're legally an adult, whatever you want.
 
I didn't know my county had any laws defining age of consent, and I'm in Law School!!! I feel so stupid right now...
 
18 for everyone, even though I understand that some people can be ready at 16. A uniform standard would be nice. When I was in school a 14 year old girl married a 27 year old man. She had her parent's consent. The marriage didn't last.
 
Question for all of you who think 18 is the right age of consent... do you really think that a 17 year old boy should be charged with rape for having sex with a 16 year old girl? Or 16/15, or 15/14? I wish kids wouldn't have sex so young, but is making it illegal a good idea?
 
This is not really about the age of consent for sex, but the age one becomes an adult.

It seems strange that you can drive a car at the age of 15 in some countries but not have sex 'til 16+?

or can have sex at age 16 and not drink alcohol until 18?

sex at 13, drink at 16 but not vote until 21?

fight for your country age 16, no sex until 18 no drinks until 21?

I think there should be an age when you become an adult for all things.

The age laws are primarily to prevent adults (ususally men) from preying on minors. Minors having sex with other minors is often harmful but almost certainly unavoidable in many cases. They need counseling not legal penalties unless rape is involved, (I'm talking about people close in age, say 16/17.) Protecting children and teenagers from adult preditors is what the laws should be about.
 
16, and the rest of you will just have to sneak around and do it illegaly.

It has always been a peeve of mine that one can volunteer to fight and die for the same country which does not allow that individual the priveleges of adulthood.

Now, that's plain stupid.

Drink, vote, carry a gun and die, sign a contract, rent a car - ALL at the same age. Make it 16, 18, 21 - but be consistent, pleeeezzz.
