Divas in Decline

Sad...

Of course they saved the biggest decline for last

Taylor Swift winning all those awards is exactly why I don't watch these awards shows anymore. If there is a performance I want to see, I'll watch it on youtube or something.

I know that Divas in Decline, Taylor Swift even winning one award and JHo's performance are sad, but, Mary J. Bliege's performance and Adele's THREE wins make up for it.

Whitney Houston's Historical AMA Wins and Performances

Published on November 21st, 2011

The 38th Annual American Music Awards airs tonight at 8pm, and in celebration of the show, we’ve decided to pay tribute to the female recording artist with the highest number of AMA’s, the legendary and iconic, Whitney Houston.

When Whitney Houston first burst onto the scene in the mid 80s, she was the pinnacle of musical perfection. Model-esque looks, catchy songs, style, poise, undeniable stage presence and most importantly, a voice with limitless potential. Success surely followed, as Houston eventually sold more than 175 million albums, broke #1 records set by the Beatles and Elvis, earned more than $500 million worldwide at the Box Office, influenced a generation of singers and became one of the most respected and revered artist in history.

Whitney Houston has amassed 22 American Music Awards, including the prestigious Award of Merit in 1994 and the International Award in 2009. She is third overall behind Michael Jackson, with 26 and Alamaba with 23. Houston is also overall the most awarded female artist in music history according to the Guinness World Records.

Whitney’s voice is truly a gift and with it she has touched the hearts and souls of millions worldwide. Let us celebrate Ms. Houston, not only for all that she has given to the music industry, and her sacrifice, but how she has personally impacted our lives.

Often times when we go through certain trials and tribulations, our accomplishments are forgotten and we are judged according to our failures. People are quick to write you off and challenge your character. Celebrities are no different and these days, with us losing our legends at a rapid pace, we should stop and pay homage to the true pioneers who paved the way and laid the foundation for others to walk across.

Music would not be the same if not for Whitney Houston. She reached a new level of success for the female entertainer and broke down barriers with her music, making it easier for other African Americans and female pop artist in general to follow suit. Whitney deserves “nothin but love“, because that is what she has given and shown throughout her illustrious career. When all is said and done, Whitney will go down in history as arguably the greatest female vocalist of all time.

We’ve compiled together as many of Whitney’s AMA moments as we could find including performances and acceptance speeches over her entire career. Watch them to be reminded what it means to be an true performer, and a diva and notice how each performance is completely live. Whitney does not lip-sync, and that is to be respected and commended.

1986: Whitney’s first ever performance on the AMA’s of ”How Will I Know”

1986: Whitney wins for “Best R&B/Soul single for “You Give Good Love”

1986: Whitney wins for “Favorite R&B/ Soul Video with “You Give Good Love”

1987: Whitney sings a flawless rendition of “All At Once” that leaves Diana Ross and the audience amazed. She then wins awards for “Favorite Soul/ R&B Video Single” with “Greatest Love Of All”, “Favorite Pop/Rock Album” and “Favorite Soul/ R&B” album

1989: Whitney performs “Where Do Broken Hearts Go”

1989: Whitney wins over Sade and Natalie Cole for “Best R&B Female” and also wins “Best Female Pop/Rock” against Tracey Chapman and Debbie Gibson

1989: In Whitney’s second performance, she is joined on stage by Mother Cissy Houston and brother Gary Houston to sing “Wonderful Counselor”

1992: Whitney performs a remix medley of “I’m Your Baby Tonight/My Name Is Not Susan/ Who Do You Love”

1994: Whitney receives 2 standing ovations in 1 performance as she sings a show stopping medley of “I Love Your Porgy/ And I Am Telling You/ I Have Nothing”

1994: Whitney receives the Award of Merit from legend Stevie Wonder and gives a very emotional tear-filled speech

1994: Whitney nearly swept the AMA’s this year with 8 total. Here she is winning “Best Soul/ R&B single” for #1 single “I Will Always Love You” and brings baby Bobbi Kris on stage in a very cute moment.

1999: Whitney performs a rousing medley of “Until You Come Back” and “My Love Is Your Love” featuring Wyclef Jean, which gets the crowd on their feet.

Not a Chris Brown fan, but he was looking kinda right last night. His performance wasn't bad, either. Thought LMFAO had the best performance of the night.

Until she proves otherwise, she's a has been

She can be that. She still holds all her records, she still has the most AMA awards won by a female artist, she's still the most-awarded female singer of all time and is cited in the Guinness Book of World Records for that and her other accomplishments, her last most recent album still debuted at #1 on top of the Billboard chart and has currently sold over 3 million copies worldwide to date and is still selling, her last tour despite all the negative response in the media was still one of the top highest grossing tours of 2010, she still grabs ALL the headlines and makes front page news on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, People Magazine and all the rest of the leading news outlets (for good OR bad reasons), grabbing all the attention & sparking most people's interest even 30 years deep into her career after people have supposedly "written her off" so many times and they're still here for her giving her the most highest rated interviews and albums -- so I highly doubt SHE actually cares about someone on a message board calling her a has been. People still turn out for her and give her countless chances, believing she will still get it together and give them the return they want from her. I'm sure SHE isn't worried one bit about being called a has been right now. She still gets a standing ovation every single time she comes out onto a stage. So has been is looking pretty damn good for her.

That show was soooooooooo boring. LMFAO was the only performance to keep my attention. Where were all the celebrities, the camera keep panning on to Selena Gomez and her gal pal Taylor Swift. No Gaga, No Bey, I'm really surprised Rihanna wasn't there to promote her album.

LOL I actually thought this year was one of the better ones the AMA's have aired in recent times. I enjoyed J.Lo (really liked her performances and she SLAYED with that dress she had on when she accepted her award. Beautiful), Chris Brown, Kelly Clarkson, Drake and I though Nicki Minaj did "aight" with her performances. She racked up her awards last night and I LOL'd when she almost bust her ass TWO times. I don't know why Katy Perry got a standing O for that performance she gave...I thought that was odd that they decided to give HER a standing O when they weren't giving no one else one, but that's just me..lol. I think Chris got to perform because Rihanna wasn't able to attend. I'm sure they wouldn't have BOTH in the same building. And yes LMFAO ended the show right. Nice way to end a show.

And she's STILL irrelevant.

The only performance that was any good was Mary J. Blige. (!)

LMFAO are a joke.:p

JHo was hands down the worst performance of the night.

And she's STILL irrelevant.

But not irrelevant enough for you to still mention her/bring her up/take a dig or swype at her in almost every thread you post in.

.....not irrelevant enough for you to still be responding to posts in her official thread TWO years later after she even last released anything.

Relevant enough, though, to keep you still talking about her. How many years has it been now since you've been on Whitney's and my heels? ;)

^^^

If SexyKevTaurean79 never posted on her there would be not need to mention her on here ever again.

TRUST:lol:

^^^

If SexyKevTaurean79 never posted on her there would be not need to mention her on here ever again.

TRUST:lol:

That makes little difference, because she's mentioned and discussed HEAVILY on every other popular music site/message board/gossip site/entertainment blog. And trust -- she gets PLENTY responses & feedback with every post that's made about her.

And if I hadn't posted in your Susan Boyle thread or even this here thread, they would be dead and lost among all the other threads. You had only TWO responses in this AMA thread before I came in and made it alive. You're welcome for me sparking life into each of them...and your other past threads that were/are on life support and/or failed miserably.
