Ok here the thing, i was having lunch with this guy today and well basically we got into a short spat over if im going to tip or not, and i basically said, FUCK NO! So he deiced to tip himself, i had no problem with this.
WHY i didn't tip was very simple and clear cut to me. My waitress did her fucking job, thats all she did. Its not like she came out flip flopping from the back while her vagina quifed Mozart.

All she did was take our orders, refill our drinks and hand us the bill. big fucking whop, who knew it was just that damn easy to earn 10 bucks. If i am not mistaken i heard rumors that the house also pays them hourly JUST like everybody working individual in the United States.
So why should i be obligated to tip someone for doing there job ?

Now, i will say this, if i ran across a waiter that exceptionally went out of there way to make my meal enjoyable im all down with that. Ive so far in life only ran into one, and she more then earned what she had coming to her. But just for your every day average server, hell no. Its always bad enough my meal was way over priced, you want MORE money out of me ?

We're doing this again????

To make it short and to the point: Restaurants pay us servers $3.00 an hour and YOU are responsible for our financial outcome. We take care of YOU. We bring YOU your meal, we try to make YOUR visit pleasant, and we make sure YOU are satisfied. It's all about YOU. YOU, in turn, take the time to pay us for our services. If you didn't want my service, YOU should have cooked it yourself.

^ what he said...

Waitress'/Waiter's hourly wage is LESS than minimum wages because the owner assumes they will get tips from customers. And in the restaurant I worked at, $1-$1.50 tip every $10 the customer spent is good enough for them....more if the customers like them....

or hit the drive-thru.

to the op: if you had no cause for complaint about your service than your server did do her job. it may not have been exceptional, but you were served. your tip need not be extravagant but at least something to let her know you appreciated her service. that's just my 2 cents...

um..how do you know the waitress earns $10 an hour? If it's true it must be a high high class restaurant. My knowledge and past...waiter/ress are NEVER paid more than minimum wage..most cases less than minimum because tips make up the difference...check it out before you stiff, even if its a dollar. Do you deserve bonuses at your job just because you DO your job? Do you deserve vacations or sick days JUST because you do your job? It's basically called COURTESY!..think about this...next you go into that restaurant...hope that waitress doesn't remember you and something "falls" in your drink or food in before it's brought out to you. TIP..why argue about it?

I know this one waitress at Pizza Hut her name is Clarice and she is da BOMB! I invited her to my birthday party. Now she's like family.

As for tipping, I always tip generously if I can afford it. I love to like..leave the resturant and then watch through the windows and the server gets this really happy look on their face it's like YAY! I made someones day. :) Me and my friends do it all the time.

Oh and you guys should watch "Waiting" :D

Some people will never learn...

I always tip generously, unless the waiter/waitress was a bitch. Most of my friends work in service and thus I know how hard it is to make a living waiting tables.

Oh wow, now i get it. Because some low class individual doesn't have enough self esteem she had to lower her self to work at a low end paying job and expects me to pick up his/her slack in life ? I think not!
Do you hand that bitch at subway 10 bucks just because she made your a sandwich and drink ? In essence thats what waiting is. They do nothing more if not less than any other working individual. Do you tip your teachers, Macdonald employees, the bitch who opens the door for you at the bank, the hooker who takes your bags up to your room at a hotel ? So why should anybody be obligated to tip a person that dose a job a 10 year old can do ?

And this is precisely why I should never have opened this thread. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Who lit the fuse on your tampon?

McD's, etc. pay above minimum wage. Sit-down restaurants with servers have special dispensation from the minimum wage laws allowing them to pay well below minimum. Tips make up the difference. It's not a job a 10-year-old can do. If you believe that, you should try it for a day. It's hard work, if for no other reason than having to put up with assholes all day long.

If you don't like to tip, don't eat at full service restaurants. It's really quite simple.

i really ought to lower my expectations of human beings.

sadly i am continually reminded of how low and shallow they can stoop.

dude; thier job's not as easy as it looks, and a lot of the time, it sucks.

that shouldn't matter anyways. you're the one's who'se eating out, so you can obviously afford to part with it, so just give 'em the fucking money or eat at home.

Oh LORD, and i thought i was a drama King. What the hell dose people thinking for them selves and putting actual thought at were there money goes, connected to the shallow-ness of human beings ? The end is truly near.

You, dear sir, need to calm the fuck down. Not everyone in society has all the luck. Some need to work hard for their money and I, as a customer, am glad to help them out if only with a generous tip.

Apparently, you make your living as a street hooker. Now how would you like it if you don't get a tip after one of your "services"? Or are you one of them high-maintenance whores who doesn't fuck below a 4-figure number?

You better rethink your values because you are not helping turning this world to the better, so shut your trap and go back to your street corner.

I always tip!!Always!!Even the not-so-good servers get tipped(less of course)..the job they do isn't easy.

People like YOU are the ones that the servers dread waiting on!

I've left $200-$300 at high end restaurants before..no biggie.
