Steve Harvey on today's "The View" was talking about his divorce and said that, like it or not, REAL MEN need a woman. Glad to see conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck call him out on that and made him back track when she said gay men are REAL men too.
 
I noticed that too. I like Steve Harvey as a comedian, but that was an ignorant statement to make.
 
What did he say when she called him out?

And yeah, the last time I checked, I am indeed a "real man."
 
Never heard of him, sounds like a prick if even Elizabeth has to bitch slap him. Good for her.
 
I think anybody walking around proposing they're a 'real man' has just got gender insecurity issues.
 
Things like that are annoying...and I'm talking about Behar's reaction. It's obvious that Steve Harvey wasn't even thinking about gay men (let alone dismissing them as not being real men) when he made that statement. Not everyone is going to go out of their way to be gender, or orientation, "neutral" when they speak of things in general. Nor do they have to. That was Joy dropping a PC sledgehammer on his head, and it wasn't necessary.
 
I have seen Joy drop a sledgehammer, and that wasn't even close.

So what if someone was reminded that when they make a stupid generalization there might be someone there to call them on it.

Perhaps he will think about us before he makes another such statement.
 
He was trying to crawl up their asses by saying a real man needs women like them. EYE ROLL! Could his noes get any browner? Take that as you will, lol.

It was a stupid comment to make but it's defenitely something to be argued depending on what someone considers a "real man".

I'm sure lots of people don't consider gay men real men.

Not taking a side, just playing devil's advocate. I personally consider someone a real man someone who acts like a man but also someone who stands up for them selves, has integrity and has confidence.


EDIT - now that I watched the clip he defenitely deserved to be called out. Even when they made the statement that "gay men are men too" he went on to say "REAL men need a woman" and he sort of paused as he said it because he realized it was a stupid comment.

... and honestly is there anyone out there who can't see Steve Harvey being a big homophobe? His personality just seems like he naturally would be. Not that I don't like him. I think he's a good comedian but he screams homophobe to me.


Again though, a stupid comment for him to make and he probably said it without thinking about what he was actually saying. I'd be curious to watch the clip to see how he said it.
 
I use to listen to the Steve Harvey show in Los Angeles, and he is a little too self righteous for me, and my aunt is a event planner in LA and worked with him once and said he's a real dick head

I hate how some people don't see us as 'real' men. I mean I have two perfectly fine balls and a perfectly fine cock. How am I any less of a man? Is what he's saying is that it takes a vagina to make a man? That's a new one on me!
