I think it's laziness on some people's parts. They'd rather have someone else do the work for them. One young lady in my forum is constantly asking for help in finding answers to her kid's homework. She can't be bothered to do it herself.

Many of the questions here can be answered by Google. In some cases, it's not so easy to find the answers so I ask the people who might know. Like that guy from the British TV programme 'Home on their Own'. I knew his first name was Jem, but all I got in Google was 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. I couldn't even find the show on Google until some kind gentleman told me to put the title in quotation marks. In the end, I not only learned how to Google properly, but I learned Jem's last name and someone even found a photo of him.

But, I agree with you and Hoodie. Sure, you can find the answers through Google, but the 'human touch' is nice and a lot more personal.

It depends on the question and what people are looking for. In my opinion, laziness comes when JUB members come to the Hot Topics board and ask for free porn. These are usually from people who don't participate on this board. Another annoying thing is when someone joins JUB just to conduct a study of gay people. In both cases they don't bring anything to JUB.

That's very true. You can Google the 'causes of homosexuality' and get any number of websites that will tell you, but nothing compares to first-hand opinions and theories.

Other questions are pure laziness, like "Where can I find pics of *insert celeb here*?"

This is the second time somebody's mentioned this recently and again, I've yet to see a single thread on Hot Topics where somebody made a request like that. Is this something that used to happen a lot, or am I just dense?

Or is it maybe that these threads wind up on page 3 and beyond, where I never go?

General guideline:

"How many tsps of vanilla in a pound cake?" - GOOGLE
"What is a tsp?" - Wikipedia
"How much does a cake pan shaped like a penis cost?" - Williams-Sonoma
"Have you ever used a penis-shaped pound cake as a dildo?" - JUB

Its really all quite straight-forward
I'm going to suggest the penis cake-pan should be inquired on JUB, not Williams-Sonoma. They're better-equipped to answer "How can I make the frosting on my penis pound cake (or penis-pounder, or pound-penis) look like cum?"

Google gives answers.
JUB gives opinions.

You can't have a good flamewar on Google. :-<
Why not? I scream and cuss at my Google window all the time.

This changes everthing...I want a divorce:cry:
i'm going to go on Yahoo now and find out all I can about divorce!No-fault divorces,Divorces vs.Annulments, all the fun stuff!:gogirl:

Erm.. so suddenly JUB is always only ever sexual related? You mean we cant ask questions that have nothing to do with cocks or arses or spunk or 6 packs etc.

Why shouldnt we ask the above questions here on JUB -- after all, we're supposed to be a community.

My take on it is if someone is looking for an answer to a subject and can not find the answer on google, then it makes sense to ask it here.

I.e If for example you searched on google for something fairly non-descript.. and you got hundreds of thousands of possible leads.. its going to take you a life time to find what you're looking for.. where as some one on jub my already know the answer.. thus it makes sense to ask on here.

Anyone else see where im coming from?

Yes, and I've noticed (from personal experience) that if you start a thread on a topic no one else is interested in, that thread will die a speedy death and be relegated to the dread Page 3 and Beyond portion of the threads list. At least if you're on Hot Topics, which moves pretty fast.

So it all comes down to natural selection, really. If enough people are interested in a topic to keep it alive, why shouldn't we all have a chance to say something fascinating about it?

I still Google!

8 years after this thread was abandoned! Hi sausy!

How is our favourite Saushroom doing these days?
