Because they're talented... and because they squandered it.

there's only one artist that comes to mind.

See I can think of several others... this one came to mind because I just happened to be listening to an old playlist that had some George Michael songs in it.

Feel free to add yours.

^Which of course brings up Bobby's other half:

Before:

After:

I can think of a few, but I don't know that it makes me pissed? I don't know what it makes me.

Like whom? And was does it make you?

Well, the premise of your thread is flawed in mine eyes because it doesn't make me pissed.

It does do something, but I don't know you well enough to be arsed to share.

Sorry bout it.

I agree, doesn't piss me off either, at best just makes me go

Precisely!

But no. I was just being an a-hole, KaraBulut. My apologies.

It's a tragic situation, right? It just makes me feel bad for them. Now if they were to try and drag down others with them, then that might make me pissed.

Anyway, the first one to spring to mind was Amy Winehouse.

Lauryn Hill.

I adore her - as the gurls would say, I (used to) stan out for her. I want her to come back and give both rap AND r&b/soul what they are missing. But she has obviously strained her voice to the point to where it has lost some of its' signature power, and to boot, lost a bit of her good mind. You can be conscious all you want - but try and do it without decimating your gift.

All that said... i'm waiting for her comeback, desperately.

Now:

Then:

Amongst the gay "icons"....I always had a soft spot for Liza Minelli more than any of the others though I quite liked Diana Ross and Bette Midler as well.

Liza is a great show[STRIKE]man[/STRIKE]woman...she has a stage presense that ranks with the best of them....

...and I love her too much to post a clip of that dreadful "reality" show she did...so I will leave with New York, New York

i dont get "pissed" at artists for not measuring up to my expectations, but i do feel disappointed sometimes. but then i just listen to their stuff i like and ignore the weaker stuff. its not like there isnt enough exciting new music.

anyway, off the top of my head:

courtney love: i love "live through this" and "celebrity skin", but everything after that is kind of a drag. i hear she has a new album in the works. i dont expect much.

lauryn hill: did she even release anything after her debut?

nicki minaj: so much talent. so much bullshit. when shes on, shes on. but shes off more often than not.

Shortly after I posted that George Michael clip, I saw the story about his latest "car accident":

George Michael has been released from hospital, 13 days after being in an accident which saw him fall from a speeding car.

The singer suffered head injuries after falling out of a Range Rover that was travelling at 70mph on the M1, near Hertfordshire.

Another prime example!

Contrast this:

With this:

Everyone has bad days and inconsistent performances. What pisses me off is the self-destruction of talent.

Another good example. I was really surprised at some of the stuff she did with Hole- pleasantly surprised.

And her performance in The People vs. Larry Flynt was really good. That was in 1996, though. What has she done since?

nicki minaj: so much talent. so much bullshit. when shes on, shes on. but shes off more often than not.

I liked Nicki Minaj. Until I made the mistake of watching American Idol. Someone should introduce her to Bobby Brown.

See, I almost want to be fair to Courtney Love, but I can't be. She lost her husband Kurt Cobain in such a shocking fashion, but I can't say she was a saint at the time - not that this makes her at fault. Celebrity Skin came about after the death of her husband, and, I don't know, I always preferred Hole's more erratic grunge, damn near riot-grrl sound... so Live Through This and the b-sider My Body, The Hand Grenade, are my favorites. She actually did do one more CD with Hole, but I'd lost interest in her after her documentary and solo CD kinda showed that her being "untamed" is hurting her.

i just listened to the song
"Tonight, do we have to fight again ...., tonight i just want to go to sleep ... "
Sounds like he didn't have a good partner. Lots of people have this sort of fight ....

I don't care about the artists.
I like their music, their work, thats all their is to it.

It's actually an old Elton John song from the 70s- from the album Blue Moves. The extended version is below:

Dipshit, this is the 'entertainment' forum. This is where it's all about delving deeper.
