Lately twink superstar Ashton Ryan has become quite the controversial figure in gay porn (although, admitttedly, not as controversial as Brent Corrigan). Here is a story on the Newswire about another model that suffered negative consequences because of Ashton's reputation in the industry. I like him as a porn star, but all that HIV stuff from last year revealed him to be less than angelic. The recent stuff about him paints him in a very negative light.
 
He's still nice on the eyes, and when it comes down to it that's what I want to see on the TV.

I don't see the resemblance between the two, myself.

Personally his HIV status is 1) none of my business and 2) a non-issue.

If I recall the article correctly, it's been a day or so, the man who mistook the two was a bit impaired, shall we say. Mr. Ashton should have been more assertive.
 
The producer must have had quite a few drinks to mistake those two. As far as I'm concerned, the producer was out of line to say anything about a person's HIV status in public. That can get you in legal trouble if you aren't careful.
 
With his HIV status, I don't know what to think about him. I jsut hope he informs his partners of his status.
 
From the article it hasn't actually been established that Ashton Ryan is positive. You can't make a fair judgement on someone based on rumours and speculation. So he pulled out of having an HIV test on a live show. I'm sure having an HIV test is pretty daunting for anyone let alone having the results revealed live on air.

You are absolutely right. They look NOTHING alike. They only have similar names, and that is why Phillip was so frustrated, and I completely agree that nobody (except maybe Ashton) knows Ashton's HIV status, but what hurt his credibility was when he went on that radio show and swore up and down that he was negative, and then agreed to the test to prove it, and then backed out at the last minute. If he had said, "That's none of your business," or, "It's been awhile since I have been tested," or "I am negative, but I don't want to take a public test," I think any of those options wouldn't have had the same negative career consequences.

he should, given the industry he works in... my point is any intelligent person in the porn industry that was going to do a "live" hiv test on the air would probably know their status to begin with... they are not going to get blindsided on the air
