Barbara Streisand: The chick is HOT

I know it's a cliche that gay men love Barbara Streisand, but the woman is a bad chick, I love her talent. She sure can sing a sad song, and her acting is top-notch. I was just watching "Inside the Actor's Studio" on Bravo and Barbara's on. I still think it's hilarious that Ashanti once said in Rollingstone that she aspires to be the black Barbara Stresiand. haha :D

Re: Barbara Streisand: The chick is HOT

She would appreciate the proper spelling of her name which is Barbra :D

Re: Barbara Streisand: The chick is HOT

The only Barbra Streisand related piece I've liked was the version of her that appeared in Father of the Pride.

I don't like Barbara. I don't know why...:) Maybe...a lot of gays like her.

Well this queer(me) dosen't like her. ..|

Re: Barbara Streisand: The chick is HOT

I used to like Streisand, but I think she has gone a bit stale - performing all that MOR crap. Her heydays were when she did Broadway and Hollywood musicals – that was her genius and the material that suited her best.

All that teamed with the fact that by all accounts she is not a very nice person, turns me right off her.

But her vocal and dramatic performances in Funny Girl, Hello Dolly, On a Clear Day, Yentl, Funny Lady. Pure genius - I get goose bumps just thinking about them

Does that make me very gay?

Re: Barbara Streisand: The chick is HOT

I can take or leave her, but I do like "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever", good movie and great showcase for her voice. I am also very fond of "What's Up Doc", it really is funny.

Re: Barbara Streisand: The chick is HOT

It was OK, but then I've been an avid fan since day 1, Album 1 (The Barbra Streisand Album.) She didn't say anything on Bravo I hadn't heard her say before. She's much better talking about herself at a concert, because she's talking to her audience. When she's being interviewed on TV, even by a sympathetic interviewer, she tends to come across as, "Why are you asking me that." But then she's been doing interviews on TV for nearly 45 years. It must get pretty boring.

whats up doc

one of my all time favorites

though her singing leaves me cold....but
why doesnt she sing enough is enough anymore??

Re: Barbara Streisand: The chick is HOT

Because the disco era ended some time ago.

Re: Barbara Streisand: The chick is HOT

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Is there any Baaabra fans out there?

This woman is truly one of the best singers of our time and she has a large gay following in North America and I might add she's on tour.

She's just like Buttah! :)

Can't say I've been exposed to much of her music. Certain songs are okay but something about her voice throws me off but from what I've heard, she's alright - but she definitely needs to concentrate on the music and not politics.

At least she is on our side - as in politics.

Love her hits - No More Tears, Memory, Woman In Love etc.

Still make me marvel that two gay diva icons sang a duet together.

It's always nice to have an influential superstar on your side LOL They possess the power - they hold the peanuts. (sorry, Ellen moment..)

Hey, Tony/Tiger
Went to her 2nd show in Ft. Lauderdale on Monday night (10/30). I still can't believe I was there. I've been waiting 30 years to see her in concert. They were filming the HBO special and DVD which will be sold following the end of the tour. The show was quite elegant with a 50+ piece orchestra.

For me, it was a trip down memory lane as most of her songs were hits from 60's-80's. I think it must have been nostalgic for her to sing many songs from the start of her career now at what is likely the end of her career. There was a maturity and control to her voice to be truly appreciated.

Following the intermission, she has a skit with a George Bush impersonator that pokes fun of our genius President. Well...........someone really didn't care for it and threw a beverage at the stage missing our Babs. She handled it well. I was sooooo embarrased. Can't these people behave in a room with someone with whom they disagree? He was quickly escorted away and I doubt this will be shown in the DVD.

Seeing her in concert was a dream come true and well worth the $$. Her talent is awesome.
