Buffy vs. Angel: Which was a better show?!

Truthfully Buffy but Angel had its moments, its final scene were it stuck a finger in the air to the WB, Fred and Cordy's deaths, Smile Time.

But Buffy was 1st she had stronger episodes hands down, Hush I mean come on. Yes there were crappy weak episodes and not the greatest of villains, cough Adam, cough. Buffy and Angel still hold out against some of the crappy rip offs we have today. Yes Vampire Diaries I'm looking at you when I say this lol.

Agreed!! To me season 5 was the best season, even though it was also the most depressing.

I agree that season 5 (GLORY) was great, but for me the most perfect was season 3 (FAITH and THE MAYOR) with not a single wasted moment to be found.

I found season 6 to be the most depressing, but it does contain that phenomenal musical episode which was all the more dazzling because it wasn't a silly one off, it addressed all of the emotional undercurrents in that season's story arc.

What a great show! I miss it still.

Hm, overall I prefer Buffy. I prefer the storytelling on Angel, as pointed out already Buffy easily descends into campiness and cheese (yellow crayon etc.) whereas Angel rarely does, but I prefer the characters, dialogue etc. of Buffy. I also think Buffy is better at making you care about the characters. There were very few characters on Buffy I was indifferent about, I either liked, disliked, loved or hated them. Whereas I found most of the characters on Angel kinda..bland and unlikeable. For example, I wasn't a fan of either character but I remember genuinely being shocked and upset when Tara died whereas when Fred died I was a bit 'meh'.

Also, whilst I think the quality of Angel is more consistent than Buffy, there aren't any episodes of Angel quite as good as the very best Buffy eps imo (The Gift, Innocence, Becoming, Graduation Day, Hush etc.) I mean some of those episodes are the best episodes of any tv show I've seen..like.. in my life (granted I am only 18 lol). I do thoroughly enjoy both shows though.

That said, I prefer the first few seasons of Xena over both
