Can ad blockers be blocked?

I received an email from YouTube weeks ago stating that ad blockers are not allowed on their platform. Guess that message went to everyone because I'm a YT Premium subscriber all the way back to 2015 when it was called YT Red. What worries me is the idea that even after users sign up for Premium, the ads will continue cuz that's how greed works.

Some browsers (Opera is one) have ad blockers built in. You can disable them for individual websites.

Yes, I read that Safari also has blockers built-in. But doesn't it seem to you that it's all a setup for placing ads in YT Premium, followed by 'Extra'Premium for ad free viewing?

You're paying for a service (no ads). Forcing you to watch their ads is a breach of your paid contract with them.

I'm not sure what is going on, bu tI use Adblocker, and on YouTube, and I never see ads in the videos, nor on the site.

So, it DOES work despite what message you are getting.

If it is a coming change, I'll be abandoning YouTube.

Just yesterday, I went to get ethanol free gas at the station across town, and was blasted with obnoxious ads via a speaker at the pump. I went in after and told the cashier to tell the owner I won't be back. We don't pay someone for services and get blasted with commercials as our reward. He looked bewildered, as if "everyone else accepts it."

^ I use AdBlocker Plus and haven't seen ads on YouTube for years.

And I'd be pissed off with ads at gas stations as well. Are the ads constant or just when you're pumping gas?

They are various, depending on the brand of the station.

Some just have videos on newer pumps with LCD screens. They used to have "MUTE" buttons, even though they often didn't work. I think lots of the new pumps just run ads all the time, but the ones I remember start when you pay.

In this case, there was no screen, just an audio blaring through an embedded speaker. I covered it with one hand to dim it the whole time I pumped five gallons of gas.

No off button, no mute, and not volume. Just loud blaring crap about crap I'm not gonna buy. End of my patronage. I'll buy elsewhere.

YouTube's parent company, Alphabet, reported that the video app experienced its third straight quarterly decline in ad revenue in late April. Testing for the global platform revision is happening in stages. I'm not reading any firm timeline for implementation.

And I still expect the price of YT Premium to increase once the fix is in - the cost of "ad free" always goes higher.

On the iHeart radio and music app they play an ad before your local radio station will start playing. This is broadcast radio so it’s filled with ads all the time.

I have been using ad blocker for years on youtube. I know DailyMotion straight out won't play the video if you have ad block. The youtube commercials are annoying.

I have Premium also but what grinds my gears is when "creators" insert sponsorship ads during their clip. My policy is to end the video when they do that sleazy practise.

Yes, some channel creators are really pushing their own sponsors within their videos. A few plug their sponsors at the beginning and at the end.
