Cartoon Network REVAMPS the "ThunderCats" (Oh brother)

I am NOT a fan of Cartoon Network and I wish the creators of the original first-run 80's toons would STOP them from hi-jacking the Legacy..Years ago when they decided to revamp the X-Men I couldnt sit through that Mess for 10-minutes.................

The story looks really cool. But I hated the ultra sharp anime animation style they give to EVERY fucking carton these days. I looks how in the older version they looked more human. And I don't like the individual designs for Panthro and Cheetara. Wily Kit and Wily Kat looked adorable though. But Lion-O looked too damn puny.

I was a massive fan of the original. The new series looks a bit anime-inspired, especially Lion-O's design. Hoping it'll be good but have some doubts.

Couldn't agree more! Anime can be cool -- just like every other genre, there are good and bad iterations of it -- but does everything now have to be influenced by it?

^Anime is good for original things but when they change classics like they did with Fantastic four to anime is where it fails.

Anyone see GI Joe Resolute? I thought it was really good. They took the classic characters and made it better. Of course it was also geared to adults. I also did not like the X-men series that was out a few years back. I didn't mind the Wolverine and the X-men. That wasn't bad. The transformers new cartoon was awful. And why is Strawberry Shortcake sexy now?!!!

If Hollywood used the same Clan of Cats from the 80's with a SOLID cast I'd check it out...Hollywood did a DECENT job with the Live-Action "He-Man Masters of the Universe" flick...

Frank Langela ROCKED as Skeletor...Perfect pick for that role...Dolph was also a good pic for the time...

It honestly doesn't look that bad, I was expecting it to be horrible. But sending it to Hollywood to become a movie is just setting it up to flop - you're asking for a fail by doing that.

Don't think so..The Movie Studios put together the right package for X-MEN and its been a success...Cartoon network has ZERO credibility..

it was surprisingly good to me. I'm also glad Snarf has no voice. That was the most annoying thing about the old show. Lion-O is a bit of a bitch. But I love Cheetara. Im surprised the decided to change the history so much . Making Lion-O and Tygra brothers and Cheetara a cleric. I think I liked the old show where Cheetara's speed powers were unique to her and not something all the clerics can do. Wily Kit and kat are adorable.

Eh, I wasn't sure how I felt about Snarf lacking a voice. In many ways I can see this being CartoonNetwork's own Avatar. Snarf has been turned into a Momo when really he could have been another character to utilize. It wouldn't have been so jarring to me if Lion-O wasn't talking to him every few minutes as if he was going to respond.

That was really the only gripe that I had, though.

What exactly do you mean by this? As in he's like Hinamori from Bleach (ugh...please, I hope not) or something else?

It could be worse if you did mean that...they could've turned him into an Orihime.

Agreed.

In response to this thread, I went and watched the first episode and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lion-O and Tygra being brothers (albeit adpoted) did take me some time to get used to, but that aside, I was entertained and engaged.

In regards to Cheetara, I don't remember much about the old show but I don't remember them ever referred to her or Jaga as being Clerics or even of the same order. Did they? In any event, when Claudus makes the statement to Grune about Jaga and his Clerics and they come blazing onto the screen, I was like "Oh shit, it's on!"

I totally agree! Animation was great in the 80s and 90s. Why must they make everything anime now?!

I saw the new show last week and I was like "meh"...while I certainly didn't hate it, I certainly wasn't that impressed by it either. A few of my main gripes (in order of much hated to least hated):

1) Why oh why did they turn this into anime?!?!?!?!
2) Why does Lion-O look skinnier than Cheetarah?
3) If they decided to go back in the story and show Claudus, why didn't they at least incorporate his wife?
4) Why was the sword allowed to give Lion-O a vision without him requesting it (saying "Sword of Omens, give me sight beyond sight")?
5) Where is Snarf's voice...?? His voice wasn't really that annoying in the old show. I would rather him be able to respond instead of looking like a deaf/mute. That's very cheesy if you ask me, and yes he looks like something from Avatar or Last AirBender or Pikachu or something.
6) Last, but not least: Where in the hell are the Thundercat chest/belt emblems???

Something about this storyline just doesn't seem consistant within the new storylione itself, and it also doesn't remain true to the original. (for example, the "New Thundercats" are already at the Tower of Omens, yet none of them have the Thundercats emblem on their person; also, they refer to themselves as "Cats", but when Lion-O raised the sword to blast Mumm-Ra, he said "Thundercats HO!!"----well which is it? Are you Cats or are you Thundercats? [And how does he even know what to say, noone ever taught him what "line" to use; they made it seem like that was his first time seeing the sword/experiencing it's powers]. Because in the original: Bengali, Pumyra, and Lynx-O were just Cats until they were ordained by Lion-O).....sigh, confusing....

Albeit, I do like the Kittens' new look (their tail is cute); I like the fact that they kept the basic shape of the Sword's hilt the same; and I like the fact that everyone's weapons are basically the same as the original

But we shall see tomorrow night, if things get better and the storyline makes a little more sense.
