Anyone planning on checking this out? Mike Vogel is a hottie and the trailers look fun.

Yes, I've set the DVR for this series if only for Mike Vogel. If the show is any good, that's just icing on the cake.

I can't wait for the premiere later today. I am a big fan of the book.

I've heard that if CBS likes the ratings it could be brought back for a second season. How is that possible?

...does this series remind anyone else of The Simpsons Movie...?

The Simpsons, a couple of DC Comic issues, some bad sci-fi, episodes of Star Gate, a few of the Star Trek series, ... it's not a new concept by any means.

The season premier is set on June 24, 2013. I really do hope the series will be as good as the book is.

There are many changes from the novel.

Are there really many changes?
I have only red the Dutch translation of it (my native language; the book has 976 pages!), so I'm wondering now which version the Dutch translator did used. Probably the last version, but that can't be taken from granted, because there is another novel which King has to rewrite (by order of the authorities, I believe) after the first version was already in the bookstores. (Although I'm a King-fan, I really can't remember the title.) After removing some passages, the book released as a pocket edition; when the fans (worldwide) complained about the book, his editor decided to release the original novel again. "I rather rewrite it myself," he said in an interview, "although it feels like an amputation." The first novel, as well as the pocket version, were both released in Dutch. (But then again, most of his novels were released as a pocket.)

I do hope that Under the Dome will be broadcast on the Dutch television.

My thoughts exactly.

Aside the redheaded chick, the only other interesting thing for the first episode was the cow being sliced in half when the dome came down.
Oh, and Mike Vogel is hot pf course.

Why can't they just dig their way out?

King wrote this novel (and published an early draft of it) long before The Simpsons existed.

The answer to your question is addressed in episode 2 (which aired tonight)

For some reason my DVR didn't record the first installment. Damn. I suppose it wasn't meant to be.

Under the Dome has been renewed by CBS for a second season!

The second season will air in Summer 2014 and the premiere episode will be written by Stephen King himself!

Junior went into the catacombs/caves and tried to go under... the dome extends too far.

It's my guess that it's more of a sphere than a dome.

Haven't heard of it but I will definitely check it out...I love Stephen King.
