Christmas Music

Elli holcomb….. try but don’t complain… brilliant folk/ country…

This reminds me. Lex (our formerly active gargoyle) was/is a huge fan of Christmas music, even year round, which is surprising for a record buff.

He gave me a CD in years past of some of his collection.

I'm going to dig that out, and my others tomorrow and move my CD player to the den so to enjoy it while I'm baking in the kitchen during this Siberian blast.

Nice thread.

A couple of years ago, I stumbled across the Tafelmusik recordings of Messiah! They are the best I have ever heard, live or recorded, and I have heard many. I immediately ordered a set.

They are as up tempo, balanced, light and articulate, perfectly displaying the baroque style in runs that are nigh unsingable for many.

This is one that is from the Christmas section, but the other choruses are even better.

^ Tafelmusik for ever! (y)
The Jeanne Lamon versions of anything are usually the best ones.
