Cliven Bundy, who became a conservative icon after he and armed supporters held off federal authorities attempting to enforce a court order, has put his foot in his mouth.

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” Bundy said during one of his daily press conferences. “ecause they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do? They abort their young children; they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

After reaffirming the above remarks he has now distanced himself from them.
 
Its really not surprising that an anarchist libertarian, whose morality comes from fronteir living, would hold racist views based from isolation.
 
I'm just loving the whole Daily Show take on moron frat boy from a bad community college--Shawn Hannity---one of the dumbest right wing fools---a strong supporter of this Bundy fool---to a complete about face today. Daily Show has been showing the hypocrisy of Hannity and it has been priceless--as usual.

Not that I would condone Bundy's racism for a second. But, why was it Bundy's racism that provoked the right wing media to abandon him, and not the fact that he fomented armed insurrection against the United States?

The religious right is dying and the Republicans know it. That means they need to find a new base if they ever want to have a shot at winning the elections. The libertarians are that base.

A week earlier over a thousand such freedom-lovers had answered the call of Mr Bundy, a cattle-rancher with a fondness for online rabble-rousing, to stare down armed officials from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The agents were seeking to enforce a court ruling that Mr Bundy should remove, on environmental grounds, his 900-odd cattle from the federal land on which they grazed. ....

Mr Bundy has been defying the BLM for over 20 years, racking up unpaid fees worth over $1m. His family, he says, has been ranching on the land for longer than the BLM has existed; he also denies the existence of the United States, reserving his allegiance for the state of Nevada.

Senator Rand Paul, and others, who previously trumped Bundy have now condemned his remarks.

I don't know how good Special Forces is at rounding up cattle, but it may be time to learn.
 
So, in essence, it's okay for him to get away with living off the land and not paying a dime, and hell, it's okay for him to fight to the death for his right to steal - you just can't tell black folk to get back to picking cotton, because then you won't be our hero.
 
I hope they use clips of him and their support for him in the 2014 and 2016 campaigns. That's all I have to say

To Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and the Tea Baggers of the GOP made him a hero and patriot who is anti government and now just the rest a bigot of hate and intolerance.

A man who steals from the public, despises the United States of America (indeed, he denies that it even exists!), and resists US justice with violence.

Such are the heroes of the American right.

Not everyone that disagrees with you is a "bleeding heart liberal". Similarly, every "neofascist" isn't as jaded as you are. Even though the Foxes "backed off", (that's with a "b") the videos remain. I am not upset, but Roger Ailes and friends have shown their true colors and have generated a comedian's paradise - a good thing. "Bleeding heart liberals" being upset is your fantasy.

The trouble is, the Republicons keep trying to find a hero - someone to remove the sword from the stone. Glenn Beck tried to deify Patrick Henry until he found out that Henry was an atheist. :eek: We've had Duck Dynasty, Joe the Plumber, George Zimmerman and even the former governor of Alaska (AKA the quitter) and Timothy McVeigh. (Take away the Oklahoma City problem, and you would have had the perfect Republicon in McVeigh.) The latest attempt is Cliven Bundy. I'm sure that if Romney had won in 2012, Bundy would already have been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Or, they can always go after the ACA for the 52nd time!
