I always thought ginger ale tasted like watered down root beer... like when you drink most of the root beer, the ice all melts, and then you drink that too.

Never had Root beer so I can't confirm this, but I have to say that when I first tasted it, I hated it. Now I kinda like it, not my favourite fizz though

Root beer and ginger ale was more popular in the 60's-70's before Coke and Pepsi went viral.

Once, at a bar/restaurant, I asked for Ginger Ale. They didn't have any! #-o

However, the bartender knew of a "trick", and splashed some Bitters into 7 Up. (Would probably do with Sprite, too.) Worked like a Charm! ..|

What a cool bartender!

We just don't have it in large here, the only brand that I'm aware that sells it is Coca-Cola's Schweppes.

Coke now owns Schweppes?

Not a surprise, though!

I'm guessing that means that Canada isn't all the "Dry" anymore!

All the more reasons to ... No Matter What ...

Keep Smilin'!! (*8*)

Sorry, my mistake: Coca-Cola owns Schweppes only in some countries, in the others it is Dr Pepper's. In Canada it still is Canada Dry(owned by Dr Pepper Snapple)

Whenever I go to type bbc.co.uk, I keep hoping I'll see some Big British Black Cock.

When I first saw this thread, I thought is coming here and posting "I'm gay"

"..stressed out, uptight, overworked, wound up."

I mean nothing naughty by this, but it fits my mood. I confess that I need a vacation.

I just wasted 111 minutes of my life watching Tyler Perry's Temptation.

I've decided a zero-tolerance approach to sobriety isn't for me. However, if I feel I'm going into yet another tailspin, it'll be the only option I consider.

This sounds like you're actually saying the opposite of what you mean.

What do you mean?

EDIT: Never mind, I think I get it.

What I mean is that the drug I've always had the absolute least attraction to (alcohol) can be extremely therapeutic if taken in small doses and extremely infrequently. My mental difficulties can be absolutely overwhelming and if once every month or two I decide I need to have a few drinks, I don't see the issue in it. I had a few drinks a few days ago and it turned out that I had one of the most amazing boundary-setting, motivation-explaining and reservation-clearing conversations with my ex (who's coming to stay with me for a few months) that I've ever had with anyone.

If I decide I'm becoming too reliant on alcohol as a coping mechanism, zero-tolerance is the way, but as the enjoyment window of alcohol is much too slim for me to actually take much pleasure from it, I don't see it happening.
