I drink a lot of tea, just good old ordinary tea. What you call 'gumboot tea'. Cant start a day without it.
Although I do have a soft spot for earl grey every now and then...
I've only been outside of the United States once, and that was London in 2002.We had a package at the hotel I was staying at,The Montague at the Gardens, for continental breakfasts, which got me hooked on English Breakfast tea, black, absolutely delicious!Never had tea that good again,so now I rarely drink it.
I drink ALot of tea mostly the english brands. I'm also partial to loose tea esp. oolong. One of the thrift shops here get donations from specialty stores and I bought 40 boxes of various black teas for 39 cents a box and with the price of good teas I couldn't resist. They are all excellent.
Sencha First Flush by Rhonefeldt of Hamburg - wow.
Plus, some awesome local creations of the teablenders here.
(Green Christmas was so far, the best. I had it all year long.)
OK, both my BF and I are tea-addicts. Now, I have said it.
I rather like Darjeeling as far as straight black teas go (both in the morning or later in the day) - and yes, I know they say that First flush is to mild or light for mornings, but I don't care
When I do want some more fullness in my tea I just love Earl Grey... or worse yet, one of those perverse (as some would no doubt say) combinations such as cinnamon-flavoured black tea or vanilla or mango-flavoured... hehehehe
But there's nothing quite like a good cup of Roiboos in the evening (or at any other time of the day, really). I find it wonderful hot, but it's equally perfect for ice tea... especially that one version where Roiboos leaves are mixed with Lemon grass... very refreshing!
And if one want's to go a bit "kitsch" on a summery afternoon, I'd say you go try iced Roiboos in a tall glass, with thinly sliced pieces of apple, mixed with freshly squeezed juice of a blood-orange, some mint leaves and a splash of Campari! ....SO gay, I know... but yummy LOL
Cup o' cha (derived from the chinese/japanese word for tea).
Cup o' rosy (lee). (Cockney rhyming slang – Rosy Lee/Tea. "Rose Lee" being the name of a romany gipsy, and Romany gipsies traditionally reading tealeaves to tell fortune)
Anything Twinings at the mo. Preferably an Earl Grey in the mornings before I face my public. I don't go for any of those fancy fruit teas though. Who wants a tea that tastes like fruit? I don't get it.
Green Tea tastes like the bile I get coming up from my stomach after a rather eventful night on the tiles.
I,m in th USA so Coffee is the breakfast standard. But since my Mother was from the South (TEXAS) Fresh Brewed Iced Tea ( Never a Instant Mix ) was served with every other meal. That, I still love!!
