Do You Accept Celebrity Anti-Gay Apologies?

I'm just glad that for once the hate speech is coming from a celebrity that I already despised as a talentless, egotistical douche before also finding out that he's a bigot.

Very few anti-gay apologies by celebrities are sincere. They tearfully apologize, then meet with members of the gay community for publicity photos. "Look at me, I really like gay people!" It's mostly garbage. Tracy Morgan claims he was telling a joke, but out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

It depends there might be a case where I would believe it.

But, not with Tracy Morgan. I never watched 30 Rock and won't be watching it now.

I don't know what is more disturbing the idea that he believes what he said, or the idea that he thinks it was funny.

It is one of those (Referring to Tracy Morgan)

No matter what he says after the fact at that time he thought those words were acceptable. Period.

Acceptable as a way to live life
Acceptable as a joke.
Acceptable to say to his fans

Whatever the context may be it was acceptable.

Now I am over it, and over him.

However, when Tracy Morgan says that he would kill his son if he was gay or acted gay (however us gays act), that is unacceptable. In my opinion, remarks like that have no place in comedy and aren't funny.

It has no place anywhere. I am never one to jump on someone over semantics but do people really get what he said?

He didn't say Gay people are fucking faggots and should get their asses beat.
He didn't say we all work in hair salons.

I pride myself in being able to see things from other people's perspective. I cannot, for the life of me see that.

Imma get KILLED for this BUT, I grew up in Queens n Brooklyn NY, have my friends from there still. Played soccer have my friends there still..Im not out but those who know, KNOW! And never once have they given me crap about who I fuck in the ass or what. And I accept who they are. Straight. They accept me. I hardly have any gay friends. And when I see a dude do some gay bashing on TV and then apologize its like ...STFU man...makes me wanna throw a punch at Kobe like last time...Take that DOUCHE!

I also hate the GLADD or whoever is in charge of DEMANDING apologies from pple. This guy hitting on a straight guy and was totally out bragging about how he can make any straight dude gay...im like ARE U FUCKEING SERIOUS DUDE??!!
When they get their ass kicked its either gay bashing OR considered a Hate Crime or the person is labeled a homophobe...

Sorry guys but you guys LOVE to make scenes about nothin.

Damn cant a guy play ball, fuck a dude, get lost and repeat without so much BS???

no, if you say and then put out some insincere apology and expect us to believe you? Nope, not a chance.

my experience is that most comedy shows are choregraphed.........unless the performer is drunk or stoned, there is usually a thought out schtick.............

so in this case, i question his state, or his sanity................a black man playing to an audience of fans, who are into his s..t......................i guess, will play to his audience...for a laugh........../ gay/i'm not worthy of a laugh....nor do i want one on this level..........

and, killing your gay son? wow, that's so over the top for a professional, as is tracey.............it sounds like he were playing to his audience/but dissing them also for agreeing with him/................it's his choice , but in my opinion, it is very stupid, and maybe loco...........

it is sad that we gays....faggots, fudge packers, perverts, unholy sinners, are still up for this abuse/ this fear............ and hatred, but here it is............

when 'kramer' went all crazy on some black hecklers at a show in hollywood, and spewed anti-black s...t, it ruined his career.................where is he these days....in anti-bigot rehab?

apologies ,not accepted..............too contrived.............and you got what you wanted , tracey,............... PUBLICITY, which is the goal of all preformers and whores, with no moral compass/ and nobodies, it seems/...................so FUCK YOU ,rascist, sexist, homophobic piece of s...it..............

you are hurting the forward motion of understanding, but that's what this kind of comedy is all about.........

.....so, i hope you enjoy your penthouse hotel room on the vegas strip, your hookers, your drug abuse, your crystal./ the drug or the champagne/.....hey, maybe your mom or sister will be raped and brutalized,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,great stuff for your act,,,,,,

........your crazy ass mo...her -fu...ing, need for stardom, and need to step on anyone who gets in your way/ which is why we have GLAAD, .......this is a business,all,..... dummy up/............................ later, and i'll watch you on some pathetic rehab reality show........p.s, you are noooooooooooooooo riched pryor.

.........but still go to hell......................BEAU

This ranks among the top 5 dumbest things I've ever heard.

like a lot of other people said, i think it really depends on the circumstances.

in tracy morgan's case... no. i do not accept his apology. when you make the case that gay kids who are commiting suicide need to man-up, that being gay is a choice, and that if your son were to be gay, you would stab him, to death, no, i don't accept the apology.

of course, i'd rather he make an apology as opposed to not make an apology, but that doesn't mean i accept it, or that i forgive him.

on the other hand, if a celebrity says something in passing, like 'that's gay' or if a celebrity calls another friend of his a 'fag,' (a friend who isn't gay) and then apologizes for it, i likely would accept the apology. certain homophobic terms and phraises are ingrained in popular speech for many, and it doesn't always reflect their feelings or beliefs. so in a case like that, i would certainly accept their apology, if it seemed genuine anyways.

but on the flip side of that, if a politician called someone a 'fag,' i don't believe any apology would be accepted. i place a great deal of importance in their jobs, and by the time someone's gotten to a place like that, they should damn well know better.

On the same token, should a bi accept an apology for an anti bi comment from a gay? Or should the bisexual community just view anti-bi gays as evil?

There is always the possibility that what was said was meant very differently and AFTER it was said the person came to understand it in a different light.

no not accept

since world thang call celeb thick in head world still lot public what spuer whipped in head

it call civil lobot i a mization Whipsss
' NOOOO agaiNNN whip '
Ya enjoyin this aint ya!
' WHIP '
onionheads?

Generally, they're just PR cover-your-ass moves, but I think in TM's case, he might be sincere. I'm not a fan of forced apologies, and even more irritating is the "non-apology apology," the most common form of which is "I'm sorry you were offended."

I agree, typically when they fuck up like this, their publicist tells them that they have to put out an apology to avoid a controversy or the chance of developing a negative image.

I can't really judge what Tracy said based on written reports, because the delivery could have been funny.I know this may sound bad to most, but anything can be funny with the right delivery.I laugh at some of the most offensive stuff. As long as the delivery is pretty funny.
I would need to see a video.

At the end of the day nobody has to accept it because to be honest we don't exist in his world. Comedians have always made derogatory jokes about gay men, lesbians, etc. and have gotten away with it. Traci Morgan isn't funny, he went to far and will suffer career wise from this incident. Personally I don't care either way because I've never paid much attention to him. He isn't relevant anyways.

It depends on the celebrity and the extent of what they said. For example, Slash recently said he never played the guitar riff on Michael Jackson's "Black or White," because it's "gay."

I've never gotten a homophobic impression from the guy at all. In his book, Slash says that he and his friends would hang out at a gay couple's house when they were growing up. If he had a problem with gay people, I doubt he would have done that, or been very happy living and working in LA, for that matter.

Slash meant "gay" in the more juvenile "that's not cool/masculine/hard rock" way, not in a bigoted or hateful way towards gay people. I wouldn't compare that AT ALL to someone wishing a horrible, violent death toward a gay person because of their sexuality.

I disagree - everyone - gay or not has become to THINNED SKINNED and POLITICALLY CORRECT - there is a difference betwen anti gay sentiments - and vandom profanities - we call each other fags all the time - blacks call each other niggers - and yet no one else can do it... when Kobe called the guy a fag he wasnt say "ohh your a homosexual and thats bad" - the guy was obviously straight - he was just shouting profanities that we ALL - gay or straight - learn as degrading or humiliating - fag - cocksucker - pussy - these phrases are meant as demasculating - antagonistic to anger - not an accusation of homosexual activity and the disapproval of it - it is learned behavior - not deep seeded hate of a specific minority... a random profanity in anger isNOT the same as truley showing your colors of hate and racisism or sexism like Mel Gibson intended - he is a bigot and shouldnt be forgiven - but give me a break - the world has become way way to politically correct - you cant say a damn thing these days without someone reverting it into something it wasnt intended as - thats bullshit
