  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Do you partake in Black Friday?

I had to work it. Otherwise you couldn't get me within two miles of those sales. We almost had a fist fight over $2.00 towels. Please.

I have never, and I mean never, done any shopping on the Friday after Turkey day in my life. Not even food shopping. I get everything I need the Tues. before and won't venture into a store until the Monday after. Everything they have on sale is crap and I wouldn't want it even if it was free. Not to sound like a snob, but my electronics are mostly good value top of the line merchandise that won't be on sale on Black Friday. What I wouldn't buy for myself, I wouldn't buy for my friends and family so what's the point.

I don't partake in black Friday, or any of the other bull crap associated with these greed ridden holidays...

Did not partake of the insanity of the shopping of Black Friday, with day off spent time doing house cleaning to prepare for Christmas and guest.

Went to a six hour sale right in the middle. The store was busy but not over crowded and people were behaving. :-)

I got what I wanted and saved about $120.

Nope...

I had an appointment for an oil change in my car. Went there, to the bank, and then to Wegmans to buy groceries.
I always do my grocery shopping on Black Friday because Wegmans is practically empty after the Thanksgiving holiday.

I've never partaken in Black Friday. Not really appealing to me. Sure the sales are great but I'd rather do that online if I get to it. I much prefer my precious sleep. :)

I went Thursday nite, before the "big ticket" items were unveiled, got my blu-rays and was in and out in 30 mins and didn't leave home the next day. The city about 20 mins from me made youtube with people getting crazy because of a pay as you go phone.

I never have and don't intend to in the near future. Merely the thought of all the pushing/shoving/screaming etc just to hurry and find the best sale possible isn't something that I want to go through. Although Cyber Monday is something I look forward to every year, for the sole purpose that I can shop from the comfort of my own home.

Well, kind of.

Two guys who don't drive (and never will, because they're blind) asked if I could take them to Walmart so they could get a 32-inch TV which has computer monitor capabilities. Their blindness isn't total, but well past the legal threshold, and a large monitor is very helpful to them.

But I only say "kind of" (even though I was amid the Black Friday crowds), because:
1. All I did was go in with them, but I didn't want to buy anything, and I didn't; and...
2. It was actually THURSDAY instead of Friday (about 10:45 PM).

Being a small town here, retail places don't get so entirely bonkers crazy as can happen in the big cities.
