I loved the spanish one too, I was surprised at her low points :(
I thought azer.. would win, it was perfect format for the contest, but I agree boring very rapidly.

The Spanish one was just noise pollution :badgrin:, nah abit too harsh but the song was the same old rhythm, nothing special.

We watched a bit of one of the semi finals on TV - only for a laugh 'cos there was nothing else on. Not surprised to see it was as awful as ever - LOL'd over those Irish guys with the ridiculous costumes and appallingly bad hair - and most of the others where all the glitz and flashy effects can't make up for atrociously bad 'pop' songs.

Of what I saw I thought the only reasonable one was the Bulgarian girl - and she didn't get through.

Think I'll wait a few more years before I take another look...

It was a big surprise for me how high Sweden, Italy, AND Azerbajian got so many points.

Especially surprised with Azerbajian winning, kinda happy too since well my ancestry is Asian, though West Asia is faaaaaar from Southeast Asia. So, GO ASIA!!! :D

As for the neighbour vote, Bosnia and Herzegovina actually got more 12 points awarded to them, then Italy, then Azerbajian, so it's not completely regional.

I'm going to be a real bitch and say that Azerbaijin shouldn't have won it. It was a really great Eurovision this year and there were about half a dozen better acts there. Oh well, I don't know much about Azerbaijin so I'm looking forward to seeing more of it when they go there next year.

What was my favourite? Call me crazy but I really liked Jedward. They're so out there and weird and I love weird. I've been singing their song all day. For me though the winner should have been Hungary with this song. It's so inspirational I love it...

this year there were really many good songs. but surprisingly none of the favs won. and some that most people here in düsseldorf have been loving the whole week .. ended at the end of the scoreboard :confused:

anyway .. if was a great week with a great atmosphere and nice people from all over the world :) unlike in sports, everybody was happy for the other contestants .. people congratulated each other and just had a good time :)
 
Watched the show last night. My faves were Italy, Denmark and the weird circus-like band with the pointy hats.

Undoubtedly some of the best live production and TV production I've ever seen. The staging and rear video graphics were ridiculously over the top, but awesome! The sweeping cloud vistas during the French performance almost made me cry! The post card video sequence before the score announcements, where all the clips from the evening came together, was just magic.

Great job, Düsseldorf!
 
that was moldavia (with the pointy hats). i kinda liked them, too. but most people here didn't.

australia, estonia, hungary were both very liked .. but didn't get great positions :(



I really loved the postcards, too. Very nicely made :)
The LED Display was off course HUGE. And then the big surprise were they actually split the thing to reveal the green room. awesome!

what did you all think of the moderators? many here thought that stefan raab was more annoying than funny ..however the opening performance of satellite was totally great. anke engelke on the other hand was awesome all the time :)
