Exactly! If you think obsession with youth is confined to homosexuals, think again. I have been around, worked with, etc., many straight men older than I am, who just drool over teenage girls, of legal age or not. Our society is overly obsessed with youth and beauty.

I personally think many of the "hate on twinks", "hate on cute teen girls", and "hate on celebrities" crowd, are indeed jealous. I'm jealous of many people I see around me, but that doesn't make me hate them, or run them down...

Exactly.

The One Direction guys do NOT look prepubescent. They look "boyish", sure....but that is the definition of twinks, men who happen to look boyish. They look post-pubescent, sexual mature young men. And by that definition, liking/lusting after them is not considered pedophilia. Many people seem utterly confused about the term and like to throw the word "pedo" around just because they can (and they don't know any better).

Just to clarify, I brought up the word pedophilia because it was my reaction when I saw posters celebrate here and elsewhere when Bieber and celebrities like him became legal.
While I don't hold these attitudes and I feel like I have a better undertstanding, I don't think my initial reaction was that far off-base? While it may have been misguided, I don't think I pulled these reactions out of my ass.

Btw I feel similarly uneasy when grown men lust after a celebrity with a girl's body. However I feel like you don't see it as often, meaning men desiring features that mark precursor the arrival of womanhood, except in barely legal porn (which I find gross).

So to reiterate, the obsession with hairlessness, a boyish face, a petite frame as something these men sexually crave in these celebrities is what made me feel uncomfortable. But feelings can be tempered and corrected by reason, which is something I'm working on with the help of this thread. I realize the connection to a twink culture that is pervasive and extends beyond boys bands and gay Beiber fans.

To paint those attracted to under 18 bodies as creeps is to demonize NORMAL sexual attraction that has evolved over millions of years. Nature doesn't know anything about 18th birthdays. Nature knows menstruation, erection, and propagation of the species. Brains will remain wired to find young, newly sexualized adolescents attractive.

Our civilization is a continual process of counteracting normal instinctive inclinations. We don't murder children of our mates when we meet them, and that may have once been the norm in species other than just the great cats. I don't disagree. I meant, "Does the legal boundary effect their thought process?". I know 18 is just a legal line written on paper. It's the point that the people tend to recognize the legal line in their posts.

The human consciousness is naturally driven towards adolescent youth. They are a major focus of attention, consumerism, and lust. Remember, human civilization has generally been driven to view older teenagers as objects of desire. For centuries, teenagers married each other at 16 and above to start families because the life expectancy was so short. It was not uncommon for teenage girls to be married to older men because they had a greater life expectancy to produce multiple children. There are still places in this world where teenage/adult marriage is taking place. It is a fundamental aspect of human consciousness. It is only a modern expression for us to gravitate towards more older, adult partners. Even then, we've advanced in technology and medicine to prolong the youth of these older ages.
