Has anyone been keeping up with Firefox 2? The new version is beyond sweet. Built in spell checker, and a new look (There's a ton of other stuff, this is just what stood out to me).

They should be releasing the final version in the next few days. Mozilla Firefox 2 RC 3

Did they fix the memory problems? If not, it sucks and I'll switch to Opera.

Yeah it was just today I was using Firefox, and I was using Remote Access through logmein.com and the damn thing took almost 300MB of RAM.

hm i don't use the X .. but is middle click on a tab not closing it anymore?

Can't you click your scroll wheel? On my mouse it seconds as a middle click.

I had Firefox 2.0, but quickly uninstalled it after I found out it doesn't support ConQuery yet. I use that extention at least ten times a day and I love it, so it's more or less a deal-breaker for me.

Unless someone can point me to a comparable extension?

i guess you use it for doing translation/dictionary query. that very well works with superdragandgo, too. but not in FF2 either, because they changed the API for the searchbox. however, someone wrote a patch for that:

My main gripes with Firefox 2.0:

Doesn't have a way to make pages that still don't support Mozilla browsers think that they're using IE. A few web pages, including things like Yahoo Music and CNN.com videos don't support Firefox. It's a minor annoyance, but I feel like I ditched IE to get rid of minor annoyances.

I just discovered IE Tab, and it makes things work PERFECTLY. Okay, so there is officially no reason to use anything but Firefox.

the one thing I DON'T like is that there's no X at the right corner of the tabs (not the individual tabs, but... now there's an arrow listing all the tabs). I used to find that x very useful because it takes less thinking

You know, that's really strange because I'm now using 2.0 and the my tabs DOES have the X, whereas before with the previous version they didn't. Is everyone downloading the same thing, or maybe it has something to do with something external to FF?

No, no. I got confused at first too. He meant, you know how in the previous versions of Firefox there was one giant X all the way at the right end of the tab bar? And how you could use that one to close whichever tab you were viewing? That's the one he's talking about.

I use Tab Mix Plus Extension to get that "x" back, I miss it too

I'm using firefox 2 from my laptop at the moment (which i never use my laptop, but i'm sitting on the balcony ;) ). And i see my touch pad mouse scroll thingy still does not work in firefox. it works in everything else including IE, but still not firefox durn it.

Well, I use it to query Google, Webster RE, Wikipedia, the IMDb, the Urban Dictionary and Abbreviationz.com, depending on what it is that puzzles or intrigues me. Superdragandgo only seems to allow for one search engine, as far as I can tell.

so i have FF 2.0 running now, and i have to say i like it :)
i especially love the spellchecker :)
