I live in the Los Angeles area, and I went to a gay bar called the Abbey just to check it out . I went by myself cause no one knows I'm bi.The gay guys( FEM) in there are such bithes they act worse than women needles to say that was my first and last time going. I was just so clickie it remined of high school.:grrr:
 
So your basing your one and only gay bar experience to say gay bars suck? Wouldn't that be like driving a Yugo and deciding all cars suck?
 
Check out Fiesta Cantina, near the corner of Santa Monica and San Vicente. I loved that place!
 
personally i think it's never a good idea to have that many gay guys in one place. complete and utter chaos.......:grrr:
 
I' do really really well with the girls... But been in a gay bar 3 times and I feel like I'm being outcast. Can't a Straight / curious guy get a hand / blow job anywhere?
 
7 years of working at a bar as a barback/bouncer.
They are all the same and are only fun when you go with friends.

If your expecting to be treated nice, you need one or more of the following:
  • More than very good looking
  • The ability to really suck up
  • Lots of money to throw around
  • And my personal favorite problem to deal with Drugs

The only time I was popular was when I was working in only a pair of boxer shorts. :cry:
 
Depends what you are looking for. Some people treat bars like bathhouses, others use them as places to hang with friends and just check out others. If you are going to gay bars, you have to be ok with being touched casually by guys. I said touched, not groped. And if you really want to meet people you are going to have to be willing to make the first move, in addition to be able to handle rejection. I don't think any of this is really unique to the gay scene. And to the first poster, try the Motherlode, Fubar or the Roosterfish in Venice, they are more friendly/less attitude overall. Also the Akbar in Silverlake.
 
Wait.. you're going to judge all gay bars after going to the #1 Fashion Victim bar in LA that's populated mostly by irritating label queens, fag hags and straight guys who go to pick up the fag hags by pretending to be gay but hitting on them?

Sorry, but I've been to very few bars that are fun if you go without friends. And since your "friends" aren't close enough to know about your love of la cock, I guess you're SOL.

Too bad, too. There's some really fun gay bars in LA.

Try Beer Bust at the Faultline or the Eagle on Sunday Afternoon.

Older crowd but a lot friendlier. I can't promise that you that you'll make friends, but it's a lot more liekly to stike up conversations with people there... just talk to people.. it's a lot easier with that crowd.

Thanks for the advise, but I still go to straight clubs and bars with friends its just if I go to a gay bar I would prefer to be a lone , and how old is old I'm not desperate and I wouldnt waste my weekend talking to some who looks like Larry King(!)
 
Oh, there's guys there from 21 to 65. Most guys seem to be mid-thirties and under. Much more fun crowd, friendly, social and a bit more fun-loving.

But with your attitude I'm going to suggest maybe just stay home and wank off. If you're just going to talk to beautiful people but come here to bemoan the fact that the beautiful people wont' talk to you... mabye social interaction isn't your "strong point."

Since you're not out yet, it's maybe best you just go to straight bars with your "friends" and just guy-watch out of the corner of your eye.

Where in the hell did all that come from I didnt say anything about me trying to talk to beautiful people to be real they where just assholes in in that club, and dont get me wrong I wouldnt go for chick 65 or a man I dont think theres anything wrong with that just a preference and lets not talk about attitude Ive read some of your replies to threads and some are not very nice Mr Personality.

you wanted to know about gay bars that aren't filled with fashion victims and people who'd be cilqueish, and when I told you about a couple, you said you didn't want to waste your weekend talking to an old guy.

I hang out at a lot of bars where I always meet people and have a great time, but yeah.. some of the people you're going to meet aren't going to be beautiful or young.. but many of them will be.

Your choice.

You also might wanna check out MJs.

but again.. older crowd.

To be honest, I've been to very few straight bars where you can go by yourself and meet lots of young, fun people.
 
Yeah I guess your right no fun going alone to a straight bar. I will check out one of those place one day , by the way There seem to be a lot of gay or bi guys in straight bars lately last week I was at temple bar getting tapped on the back and shoulders by guys which really weird cause that night I was with my girlfriend and my buddies. MJ is that Mickeys ???

MJs is in Silverlake along Hyperion.

I love that place. Never had any trouble meeting people or just going onto the dance floor and finding a guy to dance with.
