Gay Men, Comic Books, and Geeking Out

I tried to get into No Ordinary Family really bad. I watched the first six or seven eps and it just didn't grab me. I gave up on it.

I love Julie Benz! Great to see her on tv again. I loved her so much as Darla on Angel (and Buffy). She's a really great actress. She was the main reason I got into Dexter.

But, the show is in it's second season, and is in the BOTTOM 50 shows on t.v. right now. So, this season is probably the last. Who here thinks that the daughters boyfriend is going to get/be given powers eventually? I do. :)

I think you may be on to something. I think he might end up on the "bad" side though like his dad. I also felt bad for Joshua, but he did kind of deserve it for the things he did.
 
Anyone going to Wondercon? HeroesNHunks is going to be hosting a night a TRUCK April 2nd. Just in early planning stages now - opportunity just came up and had to take it. Should be fun. More about it in ARTICLE and as it develops.

I kinda thought the not showing V online was an attempt to sabotage a show they want to cancel. Probably expensive and audience might have been big enought to bring it back for season 2, but not mking enough money to really get behind it.
 
I loved friday's Smallville. Justin Hartley is drag was priceless, and he didn't look bad in it at all. I didn't like that Young Justice wasn't on though. Does anyone else watch Transformers: Prime?
 
Everyone knows I love Smallville but I really didn't like Friday's "Hangover" episode at all. Felt like it was a waste of an episode. They have all these plots going and they stopped them all for this? And that is how Chloe says her good-byes? not to mention she just throws in casually that she met Bruce Wayne AND Wonder Woman? WTF? Like Wonder Woman came to man's world to hide in the shadows but Chloe finds her doing God knows what. Just not feeling it. I do like Conner so it will be interesting to see where this goes next week.
 
Just watched this weeks Smallville on TIVO - clearly the worst they have ever done!

They have so much ground to cover with just a few episodes left to have wasted an hour with a totally unconnected and unnecessary story was very disappointing.
 
As for V, this season isn't great. I only watch Smallville and V. Well, and all the Bravo shows, lol. But V doesn't have that magic the first series did. It was so creppy they wanted humans for food. Now they want humans to breed with so they can advance their race? How the hell does that makes sense? It would make sense if they wanted emotions and feelings but they don't. And how is Anna slapping Lisa NOT a emotional response? It's starting to make no sense. I still like watching it though. It's a hour of Scifi and I love all that is scifi. And I wanna see Diana break free from her daughter and see what she is really planning. The show would be so much better with her the lead just like the 80's series was. But like I said, it was better when they wanted to eat us and they had that whole putting us in camps thing like Hitler did. They took out all the horrifying stuff.
 
i just finished Buffy Season Eight. My first comic book(graphic novel) ever! and i am 31. love it. Not happy about Giles dying though.

I've noticed. :lol:

And I like that they had a "filler" type episode, too much drama and action build up can lead to disappointment. I like the lighter-hearted episodes in an action arc. I will admit that things could have been handled better.
 
I think the whole "stealing DNA to advance their own evolution" is an interesting twist. But there ARE holes. If that is their goal - why the big show of arriving - they messed with the boys DNA years ago - why not just send Lisa down incognito to do the nasty with their chosen donor and leave with humanity none the wiser? There must be MORE to the plan that we aren't privy to. And I hope it's a creepy as the original. Maybe the REST of humanity is to be food for the offspring? I agree the slap was an emotional response.

I just think the emotional response stuff is all over and they are suppose to have none. EVERYTHING Anna has done has been a emotional response. The actress plays it as straight as she can but the writing gives it away.

I have really mixed feelings about the filler. On the one hand, I liked the episode. It was fun and easy to watch. On the other hand, the show is almost over and I have not seen enough Darkseid. There's a lot to cover... Where the hell was Connor through all this? I did really enjoy the ep though.
 
I'm sure we'll find out about where Conner was in this weeks episode or soon anyway.

I am ashamed but I missed today's No Ordinary Family. Caught V though, I do not what Erika is becoming.
 
Why is it in Zack Snyder movies women look like they're either 18 years old or 30. She looks so young for Superman's mum.

Still, I have a feeling they're using Superman: Birthright as inspiration and Martha looked alot like her in that.
 
Birthright was an awesome arc. I enjoyed it. I wouldn't mind at all if they use that story.
