It was easy and natural for me, and I did it at 14.

How long before telling the rents?
 
I came out at 24. Given the relative lateness in age--as well as the fact that I was home for the holidays, I told my parents within twenty-four hours of verbally coming out to myself for the first time. I was kinda surprised by their reactions. Compared to how I'd envisioned them, Mom was a bit more standoffish and Dad was incredibly supportive. Both of them however, were eventually terrific.

I only just told my parents this past June. It wasn't easy and at that time I was so shocked I had done it that I was something of a wreck. The folks and I were a little distant for a couple of weeks but now we're back to where we were.
