I dine out every week. I generally double the tax, but if it's really good I'll add more; if I hated the service, I'll give less... a lot less.

Only if I order a special drink. If it is just a brewed coffee - forget it

no, in japan, tipping is not a required practice. but when i travel, i do practice tipping but never tipped anyone from starbucks. am i supposed to? pls. advise....

do you like talking to food attendants when dining out?
 
I try to be friendly. Working with people, that one person with a smile and a few words of conversation make the day seem better. I'll especially ask for recommendations iof I'm torn between two or more items (thank you, Rachael Ray).

And no, Sushi, it's not a requirement to tip in Starbucks. (I mean, if you're a fickle person and we make your drink daily, a little bonus is nice, but not neccessary if you're nice about it.)

Right now I just want to finish school. From there I'll figure out where I'm going from there.
