me wuv you! (*8*)

there have been rumors for a while now but this is the first time someone has really taken a solid stab at it!

i'm really excited about this one as i really appreciate berlanti's stuff. my biggest fear whenever it comes to comic book movies is that it won't be taken seriously and you end up with something thats just cheesy.

>>>my biggest fear whenever it comes to comic book movies is that it won't be taken seriously and you end up with something thats just cheesy.

I know the feeling, GL. Actually, whenever I heard they're making a movie of something I enjoy(ed) from a different source - comic, TV, cartoon - my main thought is always "So, how are they gonna fuck THIS one up?" And it's surprising how many ways they find to do so.

The movies in my head always kick so much ass over the real ones. :)

update!!

creenwriter Marc Guggenheim told SCI FI Wire exclusively that he has just completed a new draft of a proposed live-action Green Lantern movie, based on a script by him, Michael Green and Greg Berlanti.

"In fact, I'm ... delivering another draft today," Guggenheim (TV's Flash Forward) said in an exclusive interview on Friday. "So it continues to move forward."

The film is expected to be directed by Martin Campbell, who stepped in for Berlanti, and is slated to begin production at Australia's Fox Studios in Sydney this summer for a release on June 17, 2011.

Writer reveals Green Lantern movie's progress and a few hints

Can't wait to see who plays him. Recently, I've heard every one from Chris Pine, Bradley Cooper, David Borreanaz, Ryan Gosling, and even Common, but they've confirmed it will be the Hal Jordan version, not John Stewart.

There is a movement from a big Nathan Fillon (Castle) fan to have Nathan play the role. A fan made a trailer to help sell the idea.
The trailer is amazing in the way it is put together. It is filled with a lot of video clips from different movies put together in a way which really detail the epicness that a superhero flick should have. Nathan Fillion is depicted as Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern.

i think Nathan Fillion would be a really good fit. when i think of Hal, i think of an older man...

and one thing i usually don't like about the casting for super heroes is that they bring in a "young hunk" and just do a "beginning" story. i understand they want to bring in younger folk & girls, but i still hate it.

Given that Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern is meant to start shooting in the next couple months, we really know nothing about it. Which is probably a good move on Warner Brothers’ part. This is one that can be kept quiet. So we don’t know what the story is, we don’t know who’s playing Green Lantern, we really don’t know anything. SciFiWire talked to screenwriter Marc Guggenheim recently, and got next to nothing out of him. His most significant statement? “It is a very loving and respectful approach.” Guggenheim also spoke about the casting process, after the jump.

^ i wonder when it was that they spoke to guggenheim. in the article i last posted he had confirmed that his submitted draft starred hal jordan:

Guggenheim confirmed that his script will focus on Hal Jordan, based on the Silver Age DC Comics incarnation of the superhero, and how he became a member of the Green Lantern Corps.

i have to admit though, i would love to see some sort of reference to alan scott, the golden age gl somewhere. i know that is a huge long shot but still...

Uh ohs! It seems Justin Timberlake might be screen testing to possibly become the Green Lantern in the upcoming movie.

AICN is posting a big but interesting rumor based on an email tip: supposedly Justin Timberlake is screen testing to appear as Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie for Warner Bros., and that he’s one of the actors in serious consideration for the role. This is wildly unsubstantiated stuff and therefore not to be taken too seriously. But it’s worth posting because, the more I think about it, I kinda like the idea. For my money, it’s perhaps a better idea than previous rumors like Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling. So before you dismiss outright, even if this really is total bullshit, check out some thoughts after the jump.

i like justin timberlake i just don't think he has the gravitas to be hal jordan.

zap2it is saying they've narrowed it down to Timberlake, Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds.

I'd love for it to be Reynolds but considering he's headlining Deadpool, I doubt it will be him. I like Cooper well enough and Timberlake isn't the worst actor ever but neither of them is strong enough to be the lead.

Damn! Beat me to it.

it's true:

It's official: One of these three men will play DC Comics' Green Lantern in next year's big budget movie version. But which one can fulfill our intergalactic ring-slinging policeman fantasies?

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the producers of the movie have narrowed the choice of cinematic Hal Jordan down to Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake, adding that a decision is expected soon as Warner Bros.' holding deal for the actors expired earlier this week, making them available for other projects. The comic fanboy in us hopes that Timberlake's out of the running just because he looks too young, and wouldn't be surprised if Ryan Reynolds makes himself unavailable considering that he already has Deadpool in his superhero movie portfolio - although we could definitely see him as wise-cracking test pilot Hal Jordan, if he's willing to think about it. Does that mean that Bradley Cooper is the best one for the job?

why can't it be a black green lantern...

because the film is not about john stewart. its about hal jordan.

although i would really love to see a cameo! there are two lanterns to each sector now and stewart is jordan's sector partner... :square:
