not sure what I'm gonna post in this thread, firing off a random list of factoids is overdone, in the meantime let's celebrate :gogirl:

PS: I'm so glad we can celebrate this openly since "racism is over." Oh well, I'm just gonna check out all the social media comments about the black national anthem performed at the Superbowl. I can't wait to see all the proud patriots supporting and celebrating black liberation.

It is definitely an academic focus in schools each year now across Canucklestan. But I would dare anyone to remember the names of even 5 influential black figures in Canadian history.

And what is a party without a theme?

"This year's theme, “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build,” celebrates the rich contributions and accomplishments, past and present, of Black people in Canada, while also aspiring to embrace new opportunities for the future"

That's very.... thoughtful of you. PLEASE allow us to return the favor by sending you Lil Boosie, Candace Owens, Chris Brown and Herschel Walker. IF you can handle all that black exellence. :gogirl:

PS: Our military will interpret you sending any of them back as an act of aggression.

Drake was already a gift as an apology for Beiber.

There's a whole month to celebrate Trump's life of misdeeds!?!

And just as a reminder.

And it applies to everyone.

Unless that power is Republican or Imperial Rome, or China, or...

Thank you for posting this thread.

Apologies for being absent.

I'm having an awful February at work/home and I'm looking forward being online more frequently once I manage my issues.

If I shared all the things I remember from when I was six years old my post would look like a novel by Leo Tolstoy. People were different in the late 1950's and early 1960's - not better, just different. As a child I could feel the excitement in the air as word would spread whenever a person of color would be on schedule to make an appearance on television or in a movie.

What really stands out to me when I look back to my past was the overwhelming feeling of a shared human experience that superseded skin color or income.

For the generation that raised me there was only History Month, every month, for everyone.

I want to close Black History Month with a song I remember from high school.

Can you believe that this is the kind of music kids used to hear on the radio back in 1972?
