Has anyone seen this film?

I just watched it and I'm speechless. Absolutely speechless.

It's about a 14-year old girl who's talking to a pedophile on the internet. They meet, go back to his house... then we realize that she's no innocent little girl. Instead of having sex with him, she drugs and tortures him, and that's only the very beginning.

Anyway, I could barely catch my breath as I was watching, I was so on the edge of my seat. If you haven't seen it, definitely rent it of buy if. If you have seen it... what did you think?

Here's the trailer:

I quite literally gasped when he confessed his involvement in the missing girl. I loved this movie and was largely riveted throughout the whole thing.

Oh, me too.

The castration scene was beyond... just beyond... EVERYTHING. I literally covered my eyes despite the fact that we saw nothing.

The movie took so many twists and turns, a huge game of cat-and-mouse. Makes you question where the line is drawn between right and wrong, justice and cruelty. Such an intimate film. Amazing.

It was really amazing to watch because as a viewer you become so conflicted on so many different levels. At first I was pissed at him for arranging the meeting. Then I thought she became the enemy and he was the victim. It really takes you on an emotional roller coaster. The most amazing thing about the film is that you have no idea what to expect from one moment to the next. I'm so happy that I'm not the only person who's seen this movie. No one I talk to that I know has ever seen or even heard of the movie. I recommend it to everyone. I know some of you are hearing the worlds "castration" and other things above, but in no way is the movie a horror movie or bloody whatsoever, its 100% suspense.

This movie is, without a doubt, the most RIVETING movie I have ever seen. David Slade's direction is brilliant and Ellen Page gives a phenominal performance as the young girl. As someone else pointed out, this is not a blood and gore flick. However, it WILL have you squirming like no film that you have ever seen before. As one of the critics stated "it's every guy's living nightmare". I do think the film somewhat misses the mark on the social message it tries to convey but you'll get it!

"Hard Candy" is a "must see" but try not to see it alone! It's available at all rental stores.

This movie was great but also disturbing.lol The cast said that every once in awhile they would get attacked by one or two people during the Q and A's while traveling with the film to various film festivals.

Oh God. I squirmed like no other when I saw the castration scene. I was clenching my leg with one hand and covering my eyes with the other as I squirmed all around, despite the fact that we really saw absolutely nothing in the scene. The acting was top notch.

got see if this is at the DVD store nearby for renting and perhaps buying later after a view or two.

Oh, I also have to mention that I loved the way they filmed the final scenes on the rooftop. The sun beginning to set in the background and all you see is their silhouettes as he stands on the edge of the rooftop with the noose around his neck... very effective. My heart was racing.

Also loved the scene where he was struggling to get out of the chair as she was tearing the house apart to find his porn stash. He's struggling, pulling tightly trying to free himself as he holds his breath... then he hears her digging around in the rocks and lets out a defeated sigh, signaling to viewers that she's hit pay dirt.

Definatly a good movie, but one of the most distrurbing I've ever seen.

It does sort of make you question a few things, especially if this girl is in the wrong with what she is doing to this guy.

But, I'm also a little biased cause I don't think Patrick Wilson deserves to be tortured...Let's just say if I had him strapped to that table...

Where was I?

Same here. Is it weird that I still found him sexy, despite being a deplorable pedophile?

I loved the beginning but it just started to drag. It wasn't that full of twists like people said.

It certainly was thought-provoking. I'm not sure that Patrick Wilson's character ever even touched a minor or if he simply liked to photograph them. Same with the missing girl. He made some reference to her in response to Ellen Page's threats. His actions at the ending also stretched credulity.

I loved this movie.
She was 14 going on 30something
Ellen Page i predict will be a future oscar winner in years to come

A friend at work and I were discussing different DVDs we each had in our collections, and I had told him I liked suspense films. He sort of grinned and said and said, "I've got one you'll like," so he let me borrow HARD CANDY last weekend.

He hadn't told me ANYTHING about the plot so I didn't have any idea what the movie was about when I started watching it.

The movie begins with 30-something-year old Geoff (played by Patrick Wilson) chatting with 14-year old Hayley (played by Ellen Page) on the internet. When they first meet, you think it's a mistake - that perhaps neither one knew how old the other was. He drives her to his place. But this isn't another case of the spider inviting the fly into his parlor. This time the tables were turned...

The castration scene was one of the most horrific scenes I've ever had to endure watching. Hayley manages to strap Geoff to the dining room table and begins to carry out her plan. As other people have said here, you don't see ANYTHING at all. Everything plays out in your mind and you imagine the worse.

Sandra Oh (from Grey's Anatomy) has a small role as the neighbor who sees enough to become suspicious and investigate. There's a few moments when you wonder if she's going to be rescuer or another victim.

At the end of the movie, I was still trying to decide how I felt about each character, who I had the most sympathy for.

I won't say anymore here, because I'm sure there are other people who will read this thread who will want to view the movie for themselves. If you can find it (Netflix has it on their site), rent it. You won't be disappointed.
