I think it's probably an exaggeration to say that any intellectual topic receives something like 5 replies...

But usually, it's much easier and faster to contribute to a thread which doesn't involve very much thinking....so lots of people can reply. Those intellectual threads probably also have longer replies, but less people will attempt to formulate any thoughts...and less people will type them out...

It's partly laziness...and maybe sex is just more interesting to more people here, which shouldn't be that strange...it IS a porn-related site..
 
There was a thread posing the same question at another forum I post at a few months back.

I think it is beacause everybody is a pervert at heart no matter what the say.
 
Sometimes I don't want to bother with thinking or I'm just not in the mood to post in the really deep stuff. Then again, I don't really post much in the pornographic stuff. Personally, I avoid some of the heavier topics because lately I get moody very easily and try to avoid anything that will rile me up or depress me.

You do make a valid point though, and I agree with it (probably because I do what you mention!). I just write it off, however, as people are in a mindset of not wanting to get involved in a debate. :)
 
Ok if I'm the final reply the you're theory has been proven, and yes some intellectual threads are left aside, but in the end we must admit that hornyness can cloud our brains sometimes, but yes some ppl don't get clouded they are just horny.

I think I may have to reclaim my role as the Cyberangel of Death (aka the killer of threads) for this one, subfer1...

I see how we have the different sections of the boards: Talk Amongst Yourselves strikes me as something akin to chatting at a party- Mainly a bunch of random discussions with a few heavier ones; Flame-Free Zone is where I see most of the heavier discussions go on, and understandibly; and then you have the Naughty Bits section- I joined this community for it and migrated here, and it has almost as many subdivisions as Talk Amongst Yourselves. You can see where I'm going with this...

Well not everyone feels like thinking or reading all the time.
 
I believe we think and converse enough in the realm of intellect and philosphy in our lives outside of JUB to be given the slight reward of being nonsensical and mirthful here. personally, most of the time I've already thought about the topic and if my opinion has laready been stated, it's a lot less work to leave it up there unsaid than to type put my entire philosophy carefully on a java window with a keyboard.

If there's really input that I feel I need to share, I'll do it. Otherwise, if the topic proves too exhausting and reiterated, I won't and I'll spend my time gushing one-word posts over kitties.

This is so true. I have had the same feeling about a few threads that I have started. But I have to revel in the success of 'post a non porn pic' thread. It was a total accident that it's such a success.
