That Matthew is a well established social justice campaigner, I would highly recommend "The Shawshank Redemption," for its rivetting performances, displaying the endurance of the human being, who struggles for justice under the most extreme circumstances.:

For heavier drama type films...not gay related:

The Diving Bell and The Butterfly
(it may be a little slow for some people but it is an amazing film and based on a true story. i would recommend not reading too much about this film...just watch it to the very end.....)

Young @ Heart
A beautiful documentary to see in our youth obsessed society

Away From Her
(excellent story of people dealing with alzheimers and an amazing strength of real honest to goodness love from the husband)

I liked Walk on Water, although beware that a lot of people hated it for reasons I can't go into without spoiling it...

And surely you've seen Priscilla? If not, it's a must.

The Wedding Banquet. is that the Bollywood movie where the Indian guy is dating a UK guy?
Could you be thinking of My Beautiful Laundrette? But it's a UK film, not Bollywood.

The Wedding Banquet is about an American guy and a Chinese guy and his family. One of my favorites, directed by Ang Lee.

I really like documentaries, but they might not wear as well upon repeated viewings:

Our House: Stories of children who have gay parents
The Man You Had in Mind: 5 couples talk about their relationships
We are Dad: 2 dads who try to keep their 5 children together
Paternal Instinct: two guy's attempt at surrogacy

Foreign Films
Soft Hearts -- Much like Wedding Banquet, both of which I loved
His Secret Life - wife finds out about her husband's secret life

Mainstream Movies
Jack - A boy who deals with a marriage breakup because his dad comes out
Lost Language of Cranes - son and dad are gay, great Brian Cox film
Maurice - Set in pre-WWI England
Quinceanera - gay boy helps a preganant teen
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - mystery with Val Kilmer

Gay
Get Real - boy falls in love with the jock who loves him back for a while
Guys and Balls - gay soccer team
Prom Queen - based on a true story of guy taking a guy to prom

No....not Adam and Steve....I saw that on HBO....it is horrible. That should go down as one of the worst gay themed films ever.

A silly film that got poor ratings but I still enjoyed was Mambo Italiano...it was stereotypically funny...

The Ritz - which has been re-released recently, Red Dirt and Gods and Monsters

Saw Dog Tags last week, it was pretty good. Will also give the thumbs up to previously mentioned My Own Private Idaho and Shortbus.

I didn't see it mentioned, but another you might want to check out is A Home At The End Of The World. I thought it was excellent, if you like drama.

Congratulations on winning money towards TLA movies.

The only TLA Movie I've seen is "Another Gay Movie" that movie is funny. I wanna see the Bear Cub though. Well now I gotta check out "Daddy and the Muscle Academy" too :D

I never knew there were so many TLA Videos out there though. I need to start seeing more of them.
