Holy Crap ! The Christmas Trees Are Up in Macy's !!!

GL, if he's still learning Texas' way, maybe a 20 gauge would be more appropriate.

Definitely better. If for no other reason than if he walks into a gun shop in San Antonio and asks for a "thirty odd six", he's liable to get shot with a .30-06.

wow. thanks for that point of clarification.

make one mistake and sure enough there has to be someone anal enough to point it out.

merry christmas?

Not until I run out of grenades and land mines.

Speaking of moving to Texas, I just bought a new H2 and am having a howitzer mounted on top just as soon as they're done with the 38" lift kit.

that's hot! soo... you come around here much?

That's nothing, yesterday I went over to my folks house and found an Easter egg under one of the bushes by the front door. They handed me a basket and told me I should go hunt for the rest of them, then they locked me out of the house.

It's the hap-happiest season of all
With those holiday greetings
and gay happy meetings
when friends come to call
It's the hap-happiest season of all

My BF and I are going to escape Christmas by going to Paris this year. I'm told it's a lot less commercial there.

Yeah - I posted a week or so ago that I had just received my first Christmas mail-order catalogue from LLBean. It's getting insane. By the time we're old, Christmas will be year round....at least the shopping part.

I find it amusing how people get so bent out of shape at the thought of Christmas. it never has phased me when they put the trees/lights out in the stores regardless of when they do it. I honestly don't mind it, it gives me a chance to get whatever decorations/lights I need for the season BEFORE they sell out ( and they always do) and then we get everybody complaining about new things "they don't ever have anything in stock at this store or that store" "how come they don't ever have a better selection"

people complain about how much money they have to spend at Christmas, who is forcing you to spend countless dollars?? nobody... thats right, nobody is forcing you to overspend and go into debt. its each persons responsibility to watch their holiday spending, what you choose to buy who to buy for and how much to spend is all YOUR own decision-- I know too many people that go so way overboard with gift giving its unbelievable.

don't put the blame on corporate america for killing the spirit of Christmas, everybody that complains about christmas is responsible for that. I have worked retail for over 20 years, and still to this day have all kinds of holiday spirit when the season is here, before then, I just look at the stuff as more product in the store, no biggie, and definately not somthing to get pissed about....

Hah, I can't afford Christmas. Besides, with my job I'll most likely not be able to celebrate it. I usually draw or paint things for the few friends that I have, but I'm sure they're tired of receiving that crap from me.

Christmas (like everything else) is always on a cash-basis with me. I make a lot of gifts. So long as your pour yourself into something and make it personal, your friends ought to appreciate it. Be proud that you've got a talent and that you share it with those who matter in your life. Christmas can be more fulfilling for you than any of those gits trapped in a Macy's checkout line.

Here's something even worse: I just saw stuff for Valentine's Day in a mail-order catalogue. It seems the normal procession of holidays has completely given in to capitalism.

The theatres have already started to show previews of the movies coming out for Christmas. I saw one last weekend, and at the end it stated Starts Nov 21st.
There was a collective groan that came from the audience.

:eek::eek::eek:

I mean, really !!

For Fuck's sake, people, it's not even October yet !! #-o

Every year it gets earlier and earlier, and every year I tell myself not to let it piss me off, but it still does.

The sheer corporate greed of it all is just too much to take.

Then again, maybe I just need to get laid. ;)

I'll get back to you.

Thoughts ?

And I though Burdines was bad. What do you expect from these carpetbaggers?

And by all means, get laid dear. Takes the edge off. :p

it'll be here before you know it...

i was chatting with a friend of mine in calgary and evidently it's already snowed there a couple of days ago!

It's irrelevant as to who I put the "blame" on for me not liking Christmas, or should I say, the commercialism that has killed the spirit of Christmas. The fact remains that I personally don't care for it and I wish I could get away from it somehow. It'd be nice if I could just burrow myself in my house until it blows over, but that's obviously not an option. ](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,)

Kudos to those who revel in it, but it's not for me. [-X[-X[-X

you're in texas now! you gots to trade up to a thirty odd six! ;)

I always thought it was "thirty aught six", but then I know next to nothing about guns, despite being raised in Texas and given a 22 rifle for Christmas when I was 13 - what a disappointment! My younger brother inherited the gun, since I only used it once or twice, and once with disastrous results, accidentally killing a jack rabbit.

I will be in Texas this Christmas and possibly also San Antonio, if I play my cards right. I guess it's not too early to start shopping for plane tickets. I generally start shopping for tickets to Mexico City about three months in advance, especially if I plan to travel during the holiday season, which I used to do a lot when I lived in San Francisco. I hated holidays in SF, but I really don't mind them here in L.A. since at least we have pleasant weather. It was usually cold and rainy in SF at Christmas, if I stayed there at that time.

i love you. you said what was pretty much is on my mind. if you hate the commercialism than shut up and go in the woods somewhere. of course, it wouldn't be JUB if people are complaining about some insignificant thing.

^I have pretty much no Christmas spirit at all, and so I don't feel affected by it. I do object to the horrible Christmas music, however. My brother and I have negotiated a truce that we do not exchange Christmas presents, except perhaps by lottery. I put up no decorations whatsoever, and I never notice Christmas lights in my neighborhood either. I do notice a lot of Halloween decorations, however, which I actually like and prefer.

No need to go into the woods here to avoid Christmas.

Yeah, Macy's just basically raped all of our Burdines stores here in FL.

Never mind that Burdines had been here since the 1920's, one stroke of the pen and they are nothing but a memory :(

Gawd, I hate corporations.
