Also who is taking care of Prim and Katniss's mother? Who knows? The point is they're trying to increase his presence in the first book to flesh out the love triangle more. Because all though Katniss thinks of Gale he'd basically have disappeared after the first ten minutes of the film if they don't fabricate a part for him.
 
I can see Greasy Sae or Peeta's father taking care of them.

It would make sense to add more scenes. They could add in flashbacks, as Katniss does think about Gale from time to time throughout the Games. Or show how he's coping while the Games were in progress.

With that being said, The Hunger Games is frequently compared to Uglies. I can see the comparisons better though:

The Hunger Games: Dystopia, teens battle to the death, Katniss-Peeta-Gale triangle, female main character.

Uglies: Dystopia, teens become mind-controlled mannequins, Tally-David-Shay-Zane triangle, female main character.

The movie isn't done yet, actually. Its still being filmed somewhere in North Carolina. You have plenty of time to read the books if you'd like. They are quick reads!
 
I've been reading The Mortal Instruments lately but plan to start this trilogy really soon. I keep hearing/reading nothing but good things about it so hopefully I'll get to it sometime over the Summer.
 
I just finished Catching Fire...I think this is the quickest I've ever read a book...it took me a while to get into the first book...started it and then put it down and came back to it months later...but finally read it this passed week and then Catching Fire I started yesterday and just finished....I'm so anxious to start Mockingjay but prob won't have time to start till Tuesday...ahhhh...haha

Soon as I read my first teaser about this movie I went out and bought the first book. I just finished it earlier tonight and now I can't WAIT to get my hands on number 2 and 3. Awesome series!!
 
I read them a awhile back and I swear i feel the third is soo good as to be unable to be captured by a movie...

MockingJay was just..the ending was superb!
 
I'm so super excited for this movie! Currently reading Mockingjay! I recommend them to anyone XD
 
OMG! I can not wait! I've read them all more times than i really should have lol. My favourite character is Foxface and the actress who is playing her looks like the part. I cant wait for the scene at the cornocopia. Blood bath galore. Lol. The books are amazing.
