The only thing I find really grating about British English is their pronunciation of "haiches". I can tolerate "zeds" but the "H" sound just sounds so wrong and unintelligent. The "American" way sounds much better.

Haytch is not really the correct standard pronunciation of H, rather it should (or more correctly use to be) aytch. I always associated "haytch" with Americans, but typically its just younger people in the UK that use it. I don't fully understand why it would bother you though, we don't run around screaming the alphabet that much!

You NEVER hear Americans say "haytch". That is purely a British thing and sounds terrible.

Probably not the best example but Adele at 0:43 says it...



For such a beautiful voice, she butchers the English language.

As an aside, the Bostonian accent is actually RP English.
