*I remember my Mom and Grandmother discussing my sister's first child and the correct way to take care of the "umbilical cord" IE, belly-button after it's cut.....
They said the way you cared for "it" determined whether or not it was an "innie" or an "outie".....So, they covered the belly-button with a tight, almost girdle thingy that kept the stomach in and that produced an innie.....
May be just "old-wives-tales"????

Innie vs outies -
[size=-1]Your normal belly button is concave, with an attractive upper hood. The base of the belly button usually joins onto the muscle wall of the abdomen. Around the belly button there is subcutaneous fat. In the "
outie", there is a protuberant mass of subcutaneous scar tissue between the bottom of the belly button and the muscle wall of the abdomen. This scar turns the concave "
innie" into a convex "
outie".

[font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][size=-1]People have actually done studies on belly buttons and especially the collection of lint inside the "innies"!!! lol I think the heavier a person is, the more lint they tend to collect inside the "innie"! ???

"Outie" belly buttons can really bother people. Umbilicoplasty or belly button surgery can change an "outie" to an "innie" belly button. Such surgery is considered by most insurance companies as cosmetic in nature. However, a lot of people with "outies" go through life just hating to take off their shirts if a male or if a female, wearing a bikini to swim in...
I have some female friends who have had two or three babies and that caused their tummy to be wrinkled and the belly button to be pulled and mis-shapened and they had their tummy-tucked to remove the wrinkles and correct the belly button as well.........looks much better and I'm sure they feel better and will now wear a bikini to swim in where they would NOT before!!!
I am an "innie" too!!
I don't think I would go through the pain of having my belly-button surgically changed, do you??
