Is " Valkyrie" as bad as the trailor's indicate?

Tom Cruise's new movie is being released here today.

The trailor's indicate a bad film and although the basis of the story is something I'm interested in, TC's presence will probably keep me away. Is he that bad an actor that he can't even be bothered to attempt a German accent? Meryl and Kate must be ashamed of their trade.

What do you think?

I have not seen the flick but I agree because the trailers do indicate that the movie is flat............trailers usually show the best part of the movie to try and entice you in............and the "Valkyrie" trailers are not that great.............I like Tom's physique but not his acting and I am in no hurry to watch Tommie play a German military officer who speaks with an English accent.............boooooooooooo.............

I saw it, it wasn't horrible... i think what made it more dramatic, is knowing it was based on a true story.... the ending is definitely a "i cant believe this happened"

I will admit that, even though Thomas is not among my favorite thespians, I will most likely wait watch " Valkyrie" but only on my pay for TV cable station................

I love the story, really hate his performing...

I cannot even call it acting anymore

No, it's not as bad as the trailers indicate. It's in fact, even worse.

I didn't think it was horrible. He's a tad (haha) over dramatic, but his supporting cast is great. You can't go wrong with Terrance Stamp and Bill Nighey.

I'll wait for DVD. Tom Cruise should never be the star of a film. When he is paired with other first rate actors who can pull it out of him he can be good. For example in Rain Man with Dustin Hoffman or The Color of Money with Paul Newman, T.C. did a respectable job. On his own however, he isn't that great.

Tom tries too hard at everything he does, and takes himself way too seriously at everything. I imagine each time he goes to take a shit, he prepares himself to make it the most intense shit ever.

have not seen it but the whole no german accent thing made me laugh just a stupic decision

and to be honest the films basis was kinda meh i mean yeah he tried to kill hitler but it was way to late for it to have any effect on the outcome of the war a film on one of the earliest attempts where hitler was almost blown up and was lucky to have left just before the bomb went off would have been great

the guy who planted it was introverted real quiet guy spent weeks planning it much better premise IMHO

i'll probably check it out when it comes to dvd but to be honest i was put off by the fact that tom cruise is playing a german but still sounds like 'tom cruise.' i guess he skipped the accent/dialect parts in acting class.
