Yay, it's the start of the Christmas season!

That's right, I was walking in Kmart yesterday (not by choice, it was the only store in the area I was in and I needed something) and they were in the process of setting up their entire display of artificial Christmas trees and lighted, animated lawn statues. Seriously, they had more Christmas stuff displayed than they had Halloween stuff displayed and it was only September 11.

It's not just Kmart, either. I was in a Wal-Mart the other day, as well, and among all of the Halloween merchandise, they had a display of ceramic Christmas villages.

It's good to see that the true meaning of Christmas is still in hearts of retailers.

Please, it's not even the end of summer. That "C" word should not be mentioned yet.

:-)

Merry Christmas! :santa:

Time to start to shopping!

Only 104 days to go.

I love the holiday season, but what a load of bullshit.Get Halloween out of the way before you even start bringing in the holiday displays. One can take only so much holiday cheer, and not before the leaves start falling!Commercialization of the holidays has gotten way out of hand.

I think the retailers would love it if Halloween just didn't exist anymore. It used to be that they made a big deal out of doing displays of Halloween merchandise. It was fun. I love this time of year. Fall is wonderful, Halloween is wonderful. Now, Halloween is lucky if a store devotes a few aisles to merchandise. They start working more and more Christmas stuff into the seasonal department until October 31, at which point they stay up all night destroying all traces of Halloween so when the doors open on November 1, there's nothing but Christmas.

Halloween is like a hassle to them. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas, but this is ridiculous. Remember, this time of year is called the HolidayS...there's more than just one.

I totally agree. You know once on halloween during trick-or-treat night I ran out of candy. I went to the grocery store to get some more & a couple of store employees were on ladders putting up Christmas decorations and taking down the Halloween stuff. I told them that Halloween didnt officially end until midnight and couldn't they at least wait till the next day???
They replied "oh it's store policy"

One of the reasons I dislike Christians so much is that I hate Christmas so much.

Christmas sucks.

It's the time of year (and let's face it, it's over a third of the year they take up... they start with the sales in September and keep the "after Christmas clearance" until February) that big business forces people to go deeper into debt to buy things they can't afford for people they don't like who dont' want them anyway.

The Bay had their Christmas stuff out three weeks ago.

The Costco near my place had it out in July. Like, for fuck.

Geez, what took them so long?

Haven't they heard of the "Christmas in July" concept before?? ;)

I saw some Halloween stuff somewhere out east before August 10, and that's MUCH less of a "holiday" than Christmas is...

Someone started counting?! Oh my, just over 100 days to go!!! I'd better start being a good boy - I wanna make it on Santa's list!!!! :p

As for the shops and decorations, I think it's all coming up now. But I did see this huge shop that sells nothing but Christmas goodies all year round in Amsterdam! I wish we had one like that here. :(

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!! :D

There are a few stores like that in the States too. And there's a Mexican restaurant in San Francisco that keeps their Christmas decorations up all year round. Very festive.

But wait, even Halloween is still 48 days away!

I have a friend who buys his "Halloween candy" around this time every year. Who does he think he's kidding? Am I really supposed to believe those bags will stay unopened between now and then?

I don't think we have stores like that here in Australia, definitely not in Brisbane anyway. I can't remember seeing one while I lived in Melbourne. Hmmm.....maybe I should open one up! ;)

The pubs and restraunts here in York actually put out their christmas menus back in June!

I couldnt beleive it..June.. WTF - its still 6 months away!

Oh...some restaurants here have what they call "Xmas in July" celebrations. That's because it is winter here, I guess.

Finally.....

I have had my list made out for months!!!!
