Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

Jaz Z and his like are a bunch of fucking dumb asses. He and his fellows are a bunch of fucking racists who hate white people. And i would love personally love for him to spout shit like that in front of me. Just to see how gansta he really is. He is nothing but a Hollywood poser bitch.

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

They didn't really "do anything wrong." They didn't say anything that really pissed me off. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

They mentioned Bush's race, yes. But his race has nothing to do with his lies or the fact that he was a bad President. It was an unnecessary dig. It's like someone expressing their happiness with Hillary Clinton no longer being a senator by saying, "Finally, no more estrogen to deal with!" It's neither here nor there, so bringing it up is just unnecessary and causes people to wonder about the motive behind the comment.

I certainly don't want Obama to leave office with people saying "no more black bullshit, my president is white." You know?

I think it's possible that Jay-Z was trying to make a pun...there's an expression called "white lie" that has nothing to do with race or skin color.

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

I'm not understanding exactly what they did wrong. They mentioned his race? Who hasn't? If I had a dollar for every time this week I've heard "black," "colored," and "African American" and all the other variations, I could buy the internet.

I think the implication being made by Jay-Z was that somehow being Black was superior to being White. If the role had been reversed, and when it's time for Obama to leave the White House, how would the Black Community respond to a White rapper saying to the effect of "no more Black lies, get that Black Shit out the White House ... for My new President is White!" I don't think it would go over too well.

Bush was a Fuck Up that just happened to be White. Nothing more.

Nonetheless, I am taking the approach when things like this are said, I'm just going to ignore them. I understand that Obama's election is a Big Deal in the Black Community and causes many Blacks to get excited. In time, the novelty will wear off.

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

Marley it makes no sense to debate at this point. Anybody who is getting this bent out of shape over this has a problem with race themselves. If someone isnt on some level racist and/or ignorant wouldnt give a shit about it. It's always people who have slight prejudice that play this poor white victim card. Ethnic minorities have a reason/right to voice their discontent with oppression. It's not like he said "Kill all white people! Burn their houses!"

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

Do you think i take either of them seriously? young jeezy..umm, who? someone who sys motherfuckin ever sentence doesnt deserve to be taken seriously..

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

Jay-Z and Beyonce are best friends with Gweneth Paltrow and Chris Martin! Jay-Z can't be racist!

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

Bull. Fucking. Shit.

I'm sure that some people who get bent out of shape over racial discussions have race issues, but I don't. You've put me in the wrong category there, bud.

When a gay person gets "bent out of shape" over someone making homophobic comments, does that mean they have issues with straight people too? Hell no. I'm not the only one who spent the last several pages discussing this. Marley did too. Does that mean he has race issues as well? Nice of you to point the finger only at me though. I'm NOT a fucking racist and I take great offense to you implying that I am. I've virtually disowned relatives because they've made racist comments about black people and asians.

I'm not a racist just because I have a problem with racist comments. Why is it only okay (in your eyes) for people to call someone out on racist/offensive comments when they're directed at every other race minus caucasians? It's such a bullshit double standard.

U make a mistake by equating racism with homophobia. While there are several parallels it is not the same thing. Many white gay people get way to happy with making that comparison to prove their points. If you must make a comparison,it would be like straight people complaining about "heterophobic" lyrics by a gay artist. They would look pathetic and stupid. Poor defensive straight people, always getting beaten up by the big bad homos.

I'm not saying you are racist but as a gay person, and thereby an oppressed minority, you need to stop and think why a black artist might deserve to express their opinions about race even if they are not PC.

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

Obama Is Half-white!

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

I've pretty much thought both rappers were complete morons for years, and yeah, this confirms it. Their comments weren't necessary and, thats that. But, they have a right to say it. Just as I have a right to delete all of their music from my database :)

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

^No offense to huntneo he is a mod after all. But just because one black person agrees with you doesnt make you right.

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

^^ I agree with you and HuntNeo. I understand the excitement and the emotions they must have been feeling, but I mean seriously, have a bit more class. That's about as bad as when my brother heard these comments, he said "THAT is why some people are so racist."

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

Wow this is a crazy thread. I don't think what Jeezy and Jay-Z said was racist. I just thought it was crude. I get what rappers are all about and everything, so it's not like their comments were shocking at all, but it's comments like that that keep me from supporting rap music. I actually don't like hearing the n-word even though I'm white. I was always taught that it was offensive and disrespectful to black people, so I just sort of cringe when I hear it. To me a lot of rap music can be degrading to women, and from reading some of the comments, some seem more offended because they think this is an attack on the rap music that they like to listen to, and less about the comments made by these 2 rappers. I don't think comments like this make Obama look good or other black people look good. Can you imagine Obama saying something like that? Obviously not. I know he's not a rapper, but the point is, I don't think most rappers are good role models for anyone, let alone black people. At least they have Obama to look up to.

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

A rapper to have class? LMAO!

That's like wanting a dog to have less fleas. It's not happening.

What you said is akin to a person saying, "a gay person who's not promiscuous..."

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

First RAP is short for cRAP.

Second, If you really want to know if it was a racially charged statement (and I'm not saying one way or another) simply reverse the roles. What would the reaction be?

So, you think Lauryn Hill is crap?

If we're hypothetically reversing roles, let's also reverse the roles in society and say that black people enslaved whites for hundreds of years, owned everything, went on to make it hard for whites until the present and were systematically racist doing the same thing that some white do. I would be understanding if after 43 black presidents and a horrible 43d president if a white guy was happy about there finally being a white president.

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

Don't get overly dramatic okay? I can count on one hand the number of rappers who actually do have class. And they're not the ones you hear on the radio everyday so please...

I'm not being overly dramatic; I'm giving you an example you can relate to so you perhaps you can grasp how your statement was prejudiced. You generalized every rapper instead of focusing on the ones mentioned in this thread. This is about two music artists who happen to be rappers. Rap isn't the issue here.

I'm sure they are very happy about finally having a black president, but they can express their happiness in a more respectful way. Obama being the first black president is very serious stuff, so to diminish it with crude language is immature and ignorant. There is a time and place for everything, and if they want to say that stuff in their music then fine, but when it comes to this, it's inappropriate and they need to learn to grow up. They make black people look bad.

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

Since when do we expect rappers to be politically correct? MCsN claims to have had BOTH of them on his playlist so he was fine with them using the N word and talking about females like dogs, but once they offend his heritage all of a sudden he's deleting them?

Sounds like textbook hypocrisy to me. I guess we should send out a memo to all rappers that double-entendres with the word "white" have been banned. It's okay to call motherfuckers "nigga" and it's okay to degrade women, oh, but don't you dare say anything about "white" cuz then all of a sudden we have standards and frail sensibilities.

And the misunderstanding of hip-hop continues.

I'm not actually going to delete them, silly. Then I'd have to delete some of my Mariah tracks with them on it! lol
But at any rate, I don't mind them using the language, but I didn't think the jist of what they said was appropriate. I don't listen to songs that are disrespectful like bitches and hoes and shit, I don't listen to that trash. Not everything by both artists are about those subjects. And just for further info, all of the music I listen to are radio edits, so there's no swearing because I hate hearing the 'n' word repeatedly. Ugh, especially 50 Cent...don't get me started, gurlfrien' :)

You're right rap is not the issue here. There is nothing wrong with rapping at all, but a huge amount of the popular rap music is completely disgusting. Rap music on a whole, seems slightly hard to defend even though there are some rappers who aren't filthy.

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

I can't stand how "trendy" Obama is. I feel like there are too many clueless morons out there with the right to vote. I'm not a McCain supporter or anything so I don't really care, but let the man actually prove himself as a president before you act like he's the greatest thing that ever happened to America.

Re: JAY Z: "No more white lies, my President's bla

Good lord! The man is the first black President in a country where slavery and segregation are part of our history and just a few decades after the civil rights movement! I swear, only on this board would some people fail to understand how that kind of awesome symbolic achievement could produce excitement and anticipation, especially amongst the under-represented minority that our President now represents.

Some of you people truly amaze me.
You're just proving my point. Other than being black, HE has yet to do anything as a president to deserve all this praise.
