This is a real longshot, but I have been trying to make out the design on the t-shirt Jeff Starr is wearing in his famous scene with Scott Noll from "The Summer of Scott Noll" (early 1980s). It's a red muscle T that seems to have some kind of animal on it. We get a couple of really good views of it in the scene, including one of the big logo on the back of the shirt when Jeff opens the door and Scott first comes in, but all the videos I've found online are too blurry to read or see clearly. Seems like it might say Hippopotamus or something like that. It's probably a logo for some bar in LA at the time. Anybody have any clue?

I know it's ridiculous that I'm preoccupied by a t-shirt in this superhot vintage scene, but what can I say? :rolleyes:

As you say, the videos floating around are copied from the 1981 VHS cassette original and are too blurry, even to ID-ing the animal in question! ... I suppose you could try googling "1980s Mens t-shirts with animal logos" and see if that brings anything up ... :) ...

Awesome! You rock! I knew someone would have a clear image. "Hindquarter" -- there's a Hindquarter bar and grill in Santa Cruz even now. Wonder if it's from there? Can't find that exact logo anywhere on line, though. Next step: Source a vintage copy of this t-shirt! Anyway, mystery solved -- thanks.
 
A late follow-up, just for fun -- the vintage "Frightening Lightning, Sink the Seahawks" t-shirt that Starr wore in "A Summer Fantasy" (1982). :LOL: StarrShirt.jpg
