I have to admit. I teared up a bit when she first stepped onto the podium and took a deep breath. The girl is a trooper and the voice is incredible.

She did an excellent job. At the very beginning, she sighed. Maybe it was the pressure? Did anyone else notice it?

In the studio most singers don't pull away from the mic when they breath so the inhalations are recorded too.

I watched her last night. She was awsome!

I love Jennifer Hudson

She did a really good job. I read she is dating "Punk" from "Vh1's I love New York", I really hope that guy does not do her wrong, because he strikes me as someone who is looking to be in the spotlight.

I'm not talking about breath control. I'm talking about the expression that she made. She had not even begun singing; she was simply standing there when she sort of shrugged her shoulders and made a facial expression.

too bad she pre-recorded it and lip-synced to it at the superbowl....

You know, many national anthem performances are pre-recorded. Especially on a big stage like this. Does it make her worse of a singer? Hell no. They pre-record it for a lot of reasons. One being the unpredictable wind in a stadium, which sounds really bad when amplified over a microphone. Hell, Perlman and Ma's quartet performance for the inauguration was pre-recorded too since there was no way in hell their instruments would've stayed in tune in that cold weather.

Don't discredit her for lip-syncing. That girl can sing and everyone in the world knows it. Her performance was amazing and very very touching. I've never felt as much compassion for a celebrity as I have felt for her. I've watched her since her audition on American Idol when she was just another one of us to her rise in fame and getting that Oscar. It was clear that she was very close with her family, especially her mom. Watching her and her family and the way she talked about them made me wish mine was just as close and loving. Now to lose all of that in an instant is something I can only fantasize about comprehending.

That said, it took tremendous courage and strength for her to get up in front of a national stage and do what she did without breaking down. I have nothing but respect and admiration for this woman.

EXCELLANT....although I thought she might fall over in those high heels. She's not the thinnest thing and those heels were mighty high. Great voice.....

what's wrong (at least on her case) with lyp-synching? in some shows it's a rule to playback for the security or preventions,It's not like she didnt sing what you heard,we know she can sing, she has nothing to prove,at least vocally me thinks.

and i did notice, maybe not hesitation but like a sense of overwhelming, like ok breath, you can do it! and boy she did.
