The Stratosphere In Las Vegas. Has a roller coaster on roof.
Not has, but HAD. Dammit!!!! Pissed me off that when I finally got to LV and had time to ride it (JUB meet 2008), they had taken the damn thing away...

Cyclone Roller Coaster, Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY Rode it with my dad & sister back in the 60s. WONDERFUL!!!

HELL YEAH!!! Rode it three times just last year. What I don't like about The Cyclone, is that they don't allow you to specifically queue up for the front, which is generally my preference, and not one time in three was I successful for anything near the front.

Johan,
I've seen that picture somewhere!

Coasters - I have a great *appreciation* for them - my coaster riding days were never prolific, and they are well past done.

Hi DQ

I was looking over a sight about abandoned buildings in Detroit last night

there was a thread in HT, I believe that mentioned that the Temple Hotel (where Houdini died) was bulldozed. That got me to looking around

the pic is of a ballroom from one of the other abandoned hotels, I think

The Triumphal Arch of Orange. Putting the oomph back into triumph.

The Wellington Arch has a cocktail lounge in the attic. I wonder what's upstairs in this one?

Broad St, Newark, NJ. The Old Haines & Co Department Store (closed in the 70s), looking North. The church in the distance is still there. 1908 postcard

Chimera Peacock.
Chimeraism is a condition that occurs when two fertilized eggs fuse together to create one organism with two different sets of DNA. Different genes from each set of DNA may be expressed in different areas, creating a further condition called mosaicism. There is no definite conclusion as to whether this peacock is a chimera or whether it is exhibiting a form of genetic co-dominance; however, either way it’s an astonishing image!
