The Stupid Test! Here Is A Fun And Real Challenge!

OK. Pay close attention. Here is a very simple
little test comprised of four easy questions to
determine the level of your intellect.

See if you have what it takes to be considered "smart."

Your replies must be spontaneous and immediate,
with no deliberating or wasting of time.
And no cheating!
On your mark, get set, go...
----------------------------------------------------------

1: You are competing in a race and overtake the
runner in second place.

In which position are you now?

Answer: If you answered that you're now in first, you're wrong!

You overtook the second runner and took his
place, therefore you are now in second place.

For the next question try not to be so dim.
-------------------------------------------------------------
2: If you overtake the last runner, what position
are you now in?

Answer: If you answered second to last, you are
wrong once again.

Think about it...
How can you overtake the person who is last?
If you're behind them, they can't be last.
You would have been last.

It would appear that thinking is not one of your
strong points.

Anyway, here's another question to try. Don't
take any notes or use a calculator, and remember,
your replies must be instantaneous.
-------------------------------------------------------------
3: Take 1000. Add 40. Add another 1000.
Add 30. 1000 again. Plus 20.
Plus 1000. And plus 10.
What is the total?
Answer: 5000?

Wrong again!

The correct answer is 4100.
Try again with good calculator.

Today is clearly not your day, although you
should manage to get the last question right...
-------------------------------------------------------------
4: Marie's father has five daughters:

1. Chacha
2. Cheche
3. Chichi
4. Chocho
5. ????
Question: What is the fifth daughter's name?

Think quickly...you'll find the answer below..

Answer: Chuchu?
WRONG!
It's obviously Marie!
Read the question properly.

well, it has nothing to do with stupidity or intelligence - but a good memory helped me answer all the questions. Well not all, I could not answer the 2nd question. I realized that I lapped the last place person, but have no idea how many others had lapped him / her also. Not enough information to answer correctly.

the third one confuses me

dont understand

the test seems to be a test of pragmatic problem solving skills

i dont get number 3 its the only one i got wrong... i thought it was 2100

1st is easy...
the second is fairly simple since its "any place but last"
3 no sense...
4 easy enough

Oh boy - I got them all wrong (except #2) the first time . Gee, Thanks!! #-o

I don't understand the deal with no.3 (why it's trying to be a trick of some sort)...is it so hard to notice how many zeros there are? You're either asleep or smart according to that one...

Number 3 got me too. When I added the small numbers and got to 90 (altogether 4090) and then I added the final 10 and my brain said...5000! It did that 3 times before I saw what it was doing. Bad brain! [-X

Why does the second question's wrong answer assume you're dumb enough not to learn by applying the pattern of no.1? (The answer would be "last").

I guess you could theoretically enter the race late, and enter right infront of the last runner...perhaps you wouldn't be counted as a runner until you did. Then in fact you would have overtaken the last runner. It depends on the definition of "runner in a race". Yes, I'm picky. I'm a pure math type...

I still can't figure out how #3 went wrong. I got #2 and #4. But I still feel stupid.

](*,) ](*,)

I am afraid to take the test because the test probably involves things that are obvious.

Anything that is obvious in any way and under any circumstances the changes that I miss it are at least 999999999999999999999999999999999999999.99 percent.

So I shall claim stupidity now and get it over with. Maybe I shall come back to this when I am in a better frame of mind then I am right now. Let me think about it for awhile.

Could the answer to number 3 be - first place as you have lapped the field????

!oops! :help:

Could the answer to number 3 be - first place as you have lapped the field????
But then it could be any other place as well...the last runner might be slow enough for many of the runners "ahead of him" to have passed him as well. Or the field is just really small. But there was no mention of a circular field or looping track...so can we make assumptions? Perhaps it's a "short answer" type question which needs to be answered taking into consideration the various cases without making any assumptions...(excuse me, I just got out of my exam period).

I got them all right. but that's probably because I got that in an email about a year ago.

Just once? I get this one (and a thousand like it) at least once a week.

But it's a fun one if you don't know it yet. ..|

I liked the third one ... that was clever!! Got it wrong the first time, mind you!

It's all good fun until someone loses an eye!!!(!)

But if I have an IQ approaching Mensa levels, then just how come I got two of these wrong? Maybe Mensa is flawed???? :-)
