I remember reading a review on iTunes saying that she was redefining the music scene - or some other shit like that - 'Just Dance' sounded like a Madonna track (at the time of this review that was the only song there - Uk iTunes) so how is she redefining anything?

I'm really surprised that people buy into her image. All the fashion "art" somehow makes people mistake her music for art. She's more transparent than Avril Lavigne and her punk rock tie.
I mean, Just Dance was catchy, but she's not as important and different as she seems to think she is. In fact, her songs are pretty much on the Pussycat Dolls' level, yet for some reason people act like she's SO above that type of singers.

Where? At what point? While I am not a Madonna fanatic, I cannot think of one song where Madonna sounds remotely like Lady Gaga and vice versa. Two completely different types of voices in every way.

Wow such negativity, not that I'm suprised. I happen to love Lady Gaga and while I don't necessarily think she's "changing the music industry" I think she's at least something different from what we've been seeing in pop music and I think that's refreshing.

Katy is still going to be around for another year or so. She just performed at the Grammys and her latest video is still in rotation. The least you can do is give her a realistic time frame of her staying power. Sheesh!

Well, is it really "rippin'" on her if it's true? Artists, now-a-days, are corporate products as major record labels are concerned with the hits that a person can produce as opposed to developing long-lasting careers for artists.

She's nothing special, imo. Even her catchiest song - Just Dance has terrible lyrics. She's not a very good artist. If it wasn't for her electronic sound and funky look, no one would really pay attention to her.

So last night I was at her show, small venue of around 900... and it was... in a word... AMAZING!
Her talent is incredible... she can dance and do all sorts of crazy things while performing, and still control her voice with spectacular talent. Unlike most "new pop stars" today, who dont even sing at their concerts - they lip sync. She never once did, and never lost her breath or anything, and her voice was just awesome - she is EXTREMELY talented.
And when she started doing her acoustic version of Poker Face (which is phenomenal), she was wearing a "dress" that was just a bunch of plastic bubbles... lol she is so crazy... anyways - shortly after starting the song, someone in the crowd shouted "Happy Birthday" because her birthday is around this time, and then during a brief pause, the entire crowd sang "Happy Birthday", completely overtaking her song, she had to stop... lol. And so she thanked everyone saying "this is a show for you guys, not for me!!" and then when she finally started singing again, the crowd was singing along even LOUDER than her... you couldnt even hear her, so she had to stop again, she was completely overwhelmed for a moment, and with a couple of tears in her eyes (literally! - she was crying on stage!) she said "I am having trouble getting through this chorus because of you guys, you are so amazing", she was just completely overcome with emotion... it was quite a moment!
All in all.... spectacular show, she really showed how talented and passionate she is....

I love her because I find her music very catchy and I do think she's talented with a good voice.
However, I liked her more before she was popular in the US. It seems like when someone hits it big in the US they get over-exposed overnight.
Now she's in the gossip mags and all over Perez etc. etc., contrary to her pre-US stardom.
