Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

I don't think that Lady Gaga would want people enslaved to her.

So free choice as to whether people like her or not (whether becoming or remaining her fans or not) would be something with which she ought to be cool.

I don't see a problem with people who are former monsters biting her in the ass.

In fact, she really ought to encourage it since its self-expression and an act of free will (to bite others, including herself, in the ass).

Personally, I think that the world of music and the arts in general is ever expanding. I don't know if one needs to always spit one artist out as to like another artist. I mean, where would the Louvre be if we did that?

"BURN THE RENAISSANCE TRIPTYCHS! LOOK AT THEM MONETS!"

I just don't know if we need to HATE as to LOVE something else.

That all said, I think Lady Gaga still has of yet to prove that the meat dress was more a statement ala PETA than it was about NY delis.

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

Did she release a new album? I haven't heard much about her lately but normally she's an attention whore who needs to make a scene every day.

Her new album is apparently complete, the title being announced in September. She has a song with Elton John on it, as well as possibly Cher.

Gaga isn't going anywhere - she's just been off the North American radar for the last six months or so, doing her international touring gig.

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

well, that's what happens when somebody blows up out of nowhere. they disappear the same way too. she just got real popular all of a sudden. i remember hearing that "just dance" song on z100 back in the middle of 2008 or early 08, i can't specifically remember but i know nobody knew her or was checking for her music. she wasn't on tv or even in the hype wagon and then when her next single came out, everybody was on her clit. it just made me go . what was even weirder was how a lot of gay folks gravitated to her for some reason as well. back in 09, whenever i heard a guy say that they was a lady gaga fan or loved her music i knew off the bat that he was gay.

but the question is who's next to come out of nowhere? sometimes i wonder if that whole mind control thing is true because it's just weird how a lot of people just like someone's music at the same time when they never heard of that artist before.

The Lumineers.

I both try to keep on top of "national" bands, and keep an eye on what the local scene is doing here in Denver. This Denver (by way of Boston) band was everywhere before I noticed, and I think hold rehearsals down the friggin' street from me.

She got boring pretty quickly and I suspect others who were initially enthralled by her stuff moved on to the next thing. Pretty dated now. She will always have a strong following but the numbers won't increase much from here. Next.

Currently in mainstream/popular music the big thing is house, dance, party, club music. I think with Gaga, she came out at the time when the dance craze started happening, so she rode the wave of popularity to become a huge thing even though she was new.

But that's just one possible factor of why she became a hit so fast.

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

She's in Australia playing to sell out crowds - her last Australian show is tonight in Perth - and touring the world. I doubt she's "over".

She debuted a new song in Melbourne the other night or so read in the paper, something called Princess Die.

She's got staying power, but I agree with Lex in that it will be interesting in seeing how she tries to top the "schtick". I think she should go Librarian and do an album of lullabys. That would pretty much shock the shit out of everyone.

well, we'll see. googled them up just now and they actually debuted at 45 on the billboard 200. that's kind of crazy.

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

I'm not really here for Gaga like I was in her fame era.

I never felt a connection to her actually. Now that I have found my genre in EDM I really don't know what she is doing for me musically.

She is not going anywhere anytime soon. She is selling out too many concerts and has way too many followers on twitter to be losing any steam.

Just look at the receipts people, not your emotions.

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

^ Well, I'm certainly big!, Vulgar

…but my point is that the Gaga phenomena is no different from the Madonna phenomena and the Jackson phenomena and the Beatles phenomena and the Elvis phenomena and the Frank Sinatra phenomena etc. where adolescents become obsessed with some kind of 'idol' regardless of the quality of whatever the 'idol' actually does.

The adolescents have a pack mentality and they adopt a commercial entity and worship them until the time another 'idol' is presented to them to adopt.

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

45 millions? Pocket change for Katy Perry

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

You seriously love gaga that much? *laughs*

I could care less about Gaga or Perry to be honest. (or anyone in the pop music world)

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

GiancarloC is right. It doesn't matter how anyone FEELS about Gaga...the FACT is that she's made more money than most artists out there, concerning record and digital sales she's surpassed many artists. The numbers prove it. I'm not a "Little Monster" by any means but I'll respect an artist who can develop a loyal fan-base, care about them, maintain talent, and get rich.

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

 Pocket change huh? Doubt it. That is just the amount she made on her Asia & Oceania part of the tour. The total for her last tour (Monster Ball) was nearly $230 million. And she is well on the path of breaking that total. Katy who? She is one that has no staying power.
Born This Way Ball - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Katy Who? She is the one that broke records with her last album. Who knows when somebody will even match the success of her last album.

Staying power? Well if she continues to do what she is doing now then she will continue dominate year after year ;)

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

The Rolling Stones recent albums..lol They have been in the business 100+ years. They already have a long strong fan base.

Katy will continue to dominate the airwaves while at the same time expanding her fanbase. Hell she might be the only one to break her own records since nobody can touch her album success.

As for Gaga's next album dominating? She better pray that Taylor Swift does not bitch slap her across the face while at the same time pushing her out of the way just like she did on her last album. With her new album coming in September(?) all others will be playing catch up ;)

Re: I tell you! The Gaga phenomena has finished.

My quick reply: And?

My long reply would be something to the effect of enjoying others that speak for us but just don't have the mainstream appeal. And i'm fine with that.

The sun sets in the horizon in the same manner each day.
