Red states have a significantly lower life expectancy than blue states and their babies tend to come out dead a lot.

This is fine.

Also, the American Dream is a bygone fairy tale.
 
Beyond the airport, I've visited Charlotte only once, and liked it. I've assumed it was a well-run, prosperous city. I hadn't known it was notorious for its high crime rate. As for myths, NC may be characterized by some as "red", but Charlotte is definitely "blue". The operative narrative here--"myth", if you will--is not that of a "red" conservative region, but that of a blue city dominated by progressives and therefore beset by high crime rates. As you may well know, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and New York City are often cited as examples.

The political powers that be in Charlotte, North Carolina are overwhelmingly Democratic and Black:

The mayor of Charlotte is a Black woman
The district attorney of Charlotte is a Black man.
The city manager is a Black man
The police chief of Charlotte is a Black man.
The fire chief is a Black man
And so on: the chair of the county commission is Black, as is the health director, county attorney, school superintendent and sheriff. Half of the county's judges are Black.
Charlotte City Council: Democrats: 9, Republicans 2

According to the local NPR station: "Today's city does not think of itself as a business. It has a new agenda: Social justice. Equity. Inclusion."

And, by the way, cash bail is no longer required.

Which is all to say that, if you seek to associate the domination of city politics by Black Democrats with high crime rates, Charlotte would be a good example to cite. I don't know enough about the particulars and history of the city to make that case, nor would I suggest that progressive, minority dominated city administrations necessarily lead to higher crime. Nor would I suggest that it would be otherwise with white Republicans in charge.

Can't help with the enlightenment, I guess making a "point" which was pointless. I would guess some kind of agenda, which never comes into focus other than ones own, but is really focused. I have seen it before.

I'm hypers-perceptive of subtext, it's always made me cringe when people go out of their way to use "black" as an exclamation mark.
 
^ I suppose it depends upon how you see life around you. You see exclamation marks. I see achievements and accomplishments.

I honestly cannot see Latimer posting exclamation marks.

It actually was born from a chain of thought about cannabutter vs cannaoil and then I was thinking about different edible products and then.... I dunno. It's somewhere in the realm of burgers or steaks. :(
