Lifetime : Prayers For Bobby [merged]

Re: "Prayers for Bobby" Saturday Evening Lifetime

I got teary eyed while watching this.

The movie was well done and Sigourney Weaver was great...|

Lifetime : Prayers For Bobby

What were your thoughts on this new lifetime movie? I cried. I really think what drove him to suicide was his boyfriend cheating on him though. It's a movie.. so we don't really know what truly happened. i Feel there are lots of gay teens that have parents which are worse.. and they move on and live happy lives. He must've had relationship problems.. or it was a combination of both the bf issue and the family.. your thoughts?

Re: "Prayers for Bobby" on Lifetime

This was such a moving and awesome movie! I laughed...I cried...it was such a good movie! I am even thinking about coming out to my parents now because this movie opened my eyes and touched my heart! I feel that Bobby is in my heart and I know that he is in Heaven. I hope everyone, especially parents with gay children, got to see it cause it was awesome and definately eye-opening!

God Bless

Re: Lifetime : Prayers For Bobby

We just watched it tonight and I thought it was well done. I think he was so close to his mom and needed her approval, that her "disowning" him basically told him that he was worthless. He had such an intimate friend relationship with his mother before she found out, that I think it really worked on his psyche when she told him she didnt have a son. Added to that the boyfriend problems (we just saw a blurb so dont know for sure what actually happened there), but I think he was already feeling bad and that just pushed him over the edge (basing it just on what was shown in the movie, real life might have been a little different).
The movie should be required watching for all those hallelujah mothers (and families) out there. Sadly, there would still be some that wouldnt get it.

Re: Lifetime : Prayers For Bobby

They must have condensed the storyline in the movie...I haven't seen it yet.

If I remember correctly, in the book the situation with the bf happened way before his suicide.

interesting.. i did not know that.

Re: Lifetime : Prayers For Bobby

The movie was very sad and very touching. There was alot the movie didn't show and what he went through before he killed himself. If any one here has read the book and seen the movie maybe they could compare the two.
Hopefully this is a eye opener for families with gay,lesbian,bi-sexual and transgender children.
This is why we need more education, to stop the hate and that being gay is NOT a choice

Re: Lifetime : Prayers For Bobby

I remeber when this happened. I think he killed himself because his mother would not accept him for who he was. dont think it had anything to do with his bf cheating on him.

Re: "Prayers for Bobby" Saturday Evening Lifetime

I recorded it last night and just watched it this evening. The whole movie was great, but the ending at the parade really touched me.

It really got me thinking about my parents and just how awesome they were, and how lucky I was. I came out to my parents when I was 18. I knew that when I told my parents; of course they were heart broken, but they always made sure that I knew just how much they loved me. In time they became very accepting and supportive of me. My brother and sisters, well they tell me that they always knew.

My parents are no longer with us and I do think about them every day. But this movie really made me think about the pride that I hold in my heart for them and my brother and sisters and just how lucky I am.

wondering if the merger police where going to put all these posts together

^ Religious people make religious people look bad. lol. No one scares me more than a bible beating bigot. They love their "God hates fags" signs! I came out at 15 and I have seen so much hate from the religious community that I understand why he killed himself! I even hear someone reads the bible or goes to church i turn the other way quickly. It's the only thing you can do. You can't argue with these people. They can be violent. We love they hate. it's very simple. No greys. It was a very good movie though. I didn't really find it sad but like I said I've seen this in real life.

I watched it last night and thought it was a great movie. I actually feel it would've been a nice feature film (controversy in tow, of course).

On a side note, it was nice to see Dan Butler (Bulldog from Frasier) in this.

I almost forgot that Jake's bf was in the film as the brother! He looked really good.

I agree with most of the people here, I cried watching the movie. It's very heart warming since Jack from Titanic. I think the guy who play Bobby was cute. :)

I was just watching some old Smallville and this Bobby kid was in 2 episodes. he was even a cute kid. Seemed very gay though. He really touched Tom Welling every chance he got! I don't blame him though!
