Any fans of this old TV show? It comes on the Logo channel all the time, but I've been a fan practically since it originally aired in the '80s.

I don't really like the first two seasons, because they're different. Mama acts different (more older or something, crabbier) and there are different people on it. Rue McClanahan and Betty White were on the first two seasons.

Seasons 3-6 are my favorites. The characters include Mama, her son Vint, his wife Naomi, their nephew Bubba, and the chirpy, bony, craft-making neighbor, Iola Boylen.

I've seen a lot of gay men online talk about how they watched the show for Bubba, played by Allan Kayser. The guy does have a fantastic, big gropable butt.

I found Ken Berry, who played Vint, kind of erotic, too.

I love Naomi. I wish I could be her.

Iola (Beverly Archer) practically steals the show sometimes. It wouldn't work without her.

It's a very bizarre show. It's set in a place called Raytown. Everything is named "Ray" something.

The characters live in some kind of outlandish, other-worldly version of the 80's... kinda like the 80's mixed with the 1950's. I've never seen people in real life act like they do on this show.

But it's very funny, especially seasons 3-6. If you love slut shaming (Mama is always calling Naomi a bimbo and such), as I do, you'll love it.

A gift from Carol Burnett....

I'm with you, Rocky.

I never saw "Mama's Family" until season 4. And years went by with me never knowing that Rue and Betty were ever on the show originally!
And you can add my name to that long list of men who watched the show to see Bubba walk around in those skin-tight blue jeans - juvenile detention indeed!!!

The only intro I ever saw:

One of my favorite shows when it first aired and now when i can watch it on Me- tv.

Take a short walk with me down memory lane with this awesome "dream sequence".
I absolutely love it when the characters get to switch places and Beverly Archer steals the scene from Vicki Lawrence:

The first two seasons ran on NBC. The next four were syndicated by Lorimar, and the show became the most successful original series in syndication. Although NBC canceled it, the syndicated run was never cancelled; a decision was made to end it after 100 episodes, since Vicki Lawrence was growing tired of playing Thelma.

Iola and Bubba replaced Vint's children who were never mentioned again.

The wrestling episode is my favorite

I think I had it on DVD at one point many years ago. I haven’t watched it in awhile. Maybe I can catch it on logo sometime soon as it was always funny!

One of my all time favorites. I got myself the complete series box set.

The best parts for me was when Mama was going off on something :)
