  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Movies that make you cry.

dead poets society ( ending) good robin williams.
guarding tess (ending) some good smiles in the body of it.
billy elliot (most ot it..lol) movie and stage was amazing

It's cheesy, even dated, nevertheless, I shed a tear for the film is all about hope, better days in the midst of tribulation....It's a wonderful life....

^Not dated at all but one of best movies ever.

So sad the idiots in Hollywood make crap now.

I have to Add that The Grapes of Wrath to the list. It was one of the books that became a classic movie.

Atonement - especially at the shore scene and the ending scene. It breaks me all the time.

E.T.

The final scene makes me cry. I can still hear the words, "I'll be right here..." in my mind.

I could not bear to watch "Dead Poet Society" again, Robin Williams did a good job there.

"Somewhere In Time" breaks my heart - so near, yet so far... of course, watching Christopher Reeve in his prime and knowing what happened to him does not help.

Somewhere in Time is one of the best movies ever. But then any movie based on Richard Matheson story is(except that mess of I am Legend)

The Grapes of Wrath, of course. And in a similar vein, the masterpieces of Italian neo-realism, including but not limited to:

The Bicycle Thieves (just listening to the title music brings tears to my eyes)

The Nights of Cabiria

Lots of Excellent movies listed.

The Sound of Music
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (bro in-law is Down's - I had a friend who was a security guard in a "Developmental Center" before they worked hard to move the handicapped into group homes.)

Probably a lot more - I'm a sap for a good, heartbreaking storyline.

was that the search for spock?

let me break it to you gently..........spock lives and comes back in time to help the new gay spock.

all us well,

Fuck Spock! Creepy old bastard, new gay Spock, well, like I said, fuck Spock....please?

I haven't seen most of these movies, but certainly two are listed that will make me cry:

Grave of the Fireflies. (Yes, just because it's a CARTOON, doesn't mean that it can't. In fact, very effectively so.)
Prayers For Bobby. (And I accidentally stumbled onto one of the scenes that they were filming, on one of my trips to Michigan a few years ago.)

And some others that are definitely known to make me cry:
Mississippi Burning. I cannot ever watch it again.
This Charming Man. (A 25-minute short film, in Danish, dubbed in English. Great romantic comedy. Beautiful.)
Strawberry and Chocolate. (Another dubbed movie, this time dialogue in Spanish, because it's a Cuban movie. Wow. Yes, the ending.)

I know there's more, but not thinking of them at the moment...

I adore Le notti di Cabiria. :luv:

Also on my list would be Black Orpheus; I find its ending similar in ways to Le notti di Cabiria, and both suggest an eternal, ever repeating story...

as Orpheus' successor brings the sun up with his song.

I Am Sam. Especially when Sam loses custody of his daughter. So sad.

Prayers for Bobby, twice. First at the suicide then at Sigourney's speech at the end.
No other movie has made me cry twice!
