My Muslim Faith

I'm still waiting to understand how someone in 2008 needs to "fess" up to being a Muslim.

'Fessing up' would apply . . .
to the lie he has been telling about his faith . . .
if that is the case

In fact, when Barry was in Indonesia, he went to a secular state school, not a religious institute (madrassa or medersa).

It's true, public school in here (I'm from Indonesia) only teachs Islam religion to Moslems.Students who have other religion gets their own religion teaching.

Different with madrassa which is Islamic school with the emphasis of islamic education in it.

Obama went to public school back then, not madrassa.:-)

This says more bad things about "plenty of people" than it could ever say about a presidential candidate - his religion is his own business and no one else's - PERIOD - end of discussion.

Um... no.
If a candidate is part of a religion that believes it's their job to bring on Armageddon, we need to know about it.

Ever, and you know it......

Oh, I dunno -- maybe about the 500th anniversary of the Bill of Rights...

I don't see the McCain camp actually going there, with this one. But talk radio and PAC's for McCain, I definitely see using the sound byte.

It's already going the rounds of the nothing-better-to-do-than-generate-messages email folks -- I've seen one from a conservative/reactionary Catholic source that is using it to decry loss of faith in America, another from a fundie viewpoint of Islam as the religion of demons, and one cautioning people to not take things out of context. The last one surprised me, actually.

In America, Muslim is a crime as much as black or female or gay. Except right now Muslim represents a felony while the others are forgivable misdemeanors.

Apparent dishonesty? He looked annoyed perhaps but I don't think this clip is so revealing as to say he was Muslim at some point. His father had minimal presence in his life and I believe he only met him a handful of times, how does that translate into some sort of formal Muslim, I dunno, conversion.

Your religious affiliation matters to certain segments of the population.

In the time of a near recession, housing melt down and a 5 year high in unemployment, there are people out there that find the room to wonder about a candidate's religion.

This can't be good for the country.

How many Muslims do you know personally, or do you run and hide behind a rock everytime one is near? It's literally illogical to say that the "religion believes", religion isn't a person. PEOPLE believe it's their job to bring on Armageddon. And what about non-religious people?

There are plenty of non-religious people who have set off bombs, raped 6 year old boys, beat up pregnant girlfriends, kidnapped children, decapitated mothers, etc...the list goes on and on. I never would imagine you'd be gullible enough to fall for Bush's fear/hate campaign against Muslims.](*,)

BTW, what nationality are you? I'm sure I could make an argument against with just a few minutes on google. See how easy it is to create an irrational fear campaign? Don't be such a tool.

What the frak are you talking about? I gave a hypothetical example of a reason we ought to know about a candidate's religion.

BTW, if there was any candidate I was thinking of when I wrote that, it would be Palin.
